Yup, they finally got around to opening the Ryu-Gyong Hotel in NK.

While I strongly object to any travel that puts money in the coffers of the totalitarian NK regime I am nevertheless curious about how this place will look. Flyertalk probably represents the best chance to hear stories of anyone visiting this hotel. Any takers?

And what's the expected date it tumbles down?

However, three years ago, North Korea announced plans to resume and complete construction, in partnership with Orascom Group Inc, an Egyptian conglomerate.

Ah, the irony.

I never thought I'd live to see the day... I'll bet the furniture is still the original ones from 1987 too. Next time I'm in Beijing or Yanji I'll look into a quick tour if possible.

Earlier this year the regime announced it would shut universities for 10 months and send students to work in factories, agriculture and the construction sector to help rebuild its economy by 2012.

Now that's investing in your long term future.:rolleyes:

So many things wrong with this (and the NK gov't). I'm not even sure where to start.
