Iberia Airlines Iberia Plus - Issuance of Boarding Passes?

View Full Version : Issuance of Boarding Passes?

I have an upcoming AA award itinerary. I'll be flying IB3679: FCO-MAD 15:00h to 17:35h, overnighting it in Madrid and then flying IB6171: MAD-LAX 12:35h to 16:15h. (Therefore this is not considered a stopover but rather a long layover).

So my question is: when I check in at FCO will I receive boarding passes for both flights?

Gracias de antemano.

You should yes, infact you should be able to checkin for everything if it is on the same PNR and all on Iberia.

Thanks for the reply and good news.

If I might add a follow-up question please:

As I'll have my MAD-LAX BP already in hand, what time would you suggest I arrive at MAD for my 12:35 flight? I'm flying in J and not checking bags.

(I'll most likely want to get there early enough to check out the lounge - but in case I'm running late it would be good to know what time I should be arriving at MAD).

Thanks again for any replies.

Well the Valaquez lounge is pretty good and has some well-stocked Sherry (Jerez) which I recommend you try, the wines are excellent as well and the view of the runway is good. They wont have hot lunch out and I havent been there at breakfast time so do not know what the offerings are. They always have cereal and croissants in the Dali lounge though.

You will be departing from T4s which takes about 15mins via subway train to get to from T4, so add on another 15mins to get through security etc, plus 30mins before departure, plus another hour in the lounge and that is 2hours from arriving at the airport. Any more than that and you may suddenly become bored and feeling generous and check out the shop next door to the lounge which stocks very expensive stuff for wives like handbags, do not enter at your peril. Just buy the $20 swarovski pen onboard which is a bargain.

Use the lifts as they are quicker than the escalators. The lounge is signposted "sala VIP"

I'll be overnighting it at the MAD Hilton - is it possible to go from there directly to T4s and bypass T4?

If not, am I correct in assuming that I clear security in T4 and will not have to re-clear in T4s?

I'd skip the Hilton of I were you. It's in the middle of nowhere in between highways...

Taxis to the city centre are 35/40€, very easy and quick train is 2€ to the heart of the city centre, near hotel Palace, hotel Urban, hotel ME on plaza Santa Ana and the Ritz which are much more of a Madrid experience. :p

Thanks, good to know for when I visit Madrid. But this time I'm vacationing in Rome and only overnighting at the MAD Hilton enroute.

I apologize for being so uber-needy...

But one more basic question for the FCO-MAD flight (IB 3679, departing 15:00): would anyone care to please advise me what time I should arrive at FCO?

I'm flying in Business and won't be checking bags - but I usually fly out of T5 at FCO and I'm not sure how to gauge how long it should take to check-in and clear security for this intra-Europe flight out of T3.

Thanks again for everyone's help - it is sincerely appreciated.

The Velasquez lounge in T4S has a more substantial breakfast buffet, with continental-type items (bread, cheeses and meats) and also little omelets, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and sausage for those who like the English approach to the morning meal. (Note: none of this comes out until 9:30; it's pretty slim pickings before that.)

T4S is sort of an island amid the taxiways; you can only get to it by clearing security and passport control in T4 and then taking the underground train. There's no additional security in T4S, although there is a passport check just as you enter the immediate gate area from which the US-bound flights depart.

Security is extremely easy; your business class ticket entitles you to use a fast track area. It's not just a separate line, but a completely separate set of checkpoints. When I went through to get this same flight a couple of weeks ago, there was literally no one in front of me. The fast track security is right by the business class check-in desks (which are numbers 840-859).

I tend to agree that you are missing an opportunity by spending the night at an airport hotel. We had the same sort of overnight layover last month, and made a very nice evening of it in Madrid. It's so easy and cheap to get in and out of the city on their sleek Metro - why not?

In any event, you will enjoy IB6171; we're so very lucky to have this new and better way in and out of Europe.

Thank you Ready2Go - very useful post!

And no doubt you all are right about going into Madrid, if I wasn't traveling by myself I'd do as you suggest - but for this trip I'm keeping it simple.

Thanks again.

You are welcome. Looking back at your original question: if for some reason they are unable to issue your MAD-LAX boarding pass in Rome, don't lose sleep over it. Business class check-in at MAD is well staffed and not particularly busy in the mid-morning when you will be arriving for the LAX flight. We didn't have our boarding passes in advance, but it only took about five minutes to check in.

Also good to know.
