MilesBuzz! - Aerorepublica Airlines - Anybody flown them?
Somewhat off topic: I might find myself aboard this airline next week, from BOG - CLO (that's Cali, Colombia for the code-challenged. I have to admit to looking it up myself.). Has anybody ever flown with these guys. My options are Aerorepublica, or wait a couple of hours and take a less-unknown airline, like Avianca or Aces, both of which I have flown. I don't really care about service and legroom, as these are only 30 minute flights. I *do* care about safety and maintenance. Aererepublica flies 30 year old DC-9īs which is no sin in and of itself (some of NW's and AC's -9īs are about the same age), but I don't want to take unnecessary chances.
Ufff, sorry for going on and on and on...

You are going to Colombia and you are worried about airplane safety . . . http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Point well taken. However, I worry about things I can do something about, rather than those things over which I have no control.
Hey, one of my best friends wife (a delightful women though she is a dentist) is from Bogota. She says visitors concerns are overrated! Too many bad movies! Cheers!

ACES Airlines is a partner of Continental Airlines One-Pass program. You can earn one-pass miles on all of their flights, and a 50% bonus for business or first class. (I believe that they have to meet certain requirements to become a partner of Continental, but not sure on that).
In addition, ACES and Avianca are both members of LatinPass.
Yup, I'm aware of both Aces and Avianca (and have flown both, in fact). Unfortunately, the only reasonable connection in Bogota is on Aerorepublica, hence my query. This trip has been pushed back towards the end of the month, and I will post my impressions.
Slightly along this topic, I'm wondering what airlines serious FF'ers will absolutely *not* fly on. Hmm, maybe it's time for a new thread.
