Sorry for a silly question. I am flying in a couple of hours with my wife and only the last row is unassigned. Does seat 4D (middle) opens to the left (near 4A) or to the right (near 4K).? I cant remember.

What are the feedbacks of this middle seat? Anyone have a better preference on this seat over the window seats?

The majority view is that any other seat in the F cabin is better than 4D.
Of course there are always individual idiosyncracies which might lead one to prefer 4D. A purser told me once she had a passenger in 1A who was terrified of looking outside, and so asked to switch seats to 4D. She was shocked that anyone would voluntarily want to switch out of 1A into 4D but I guess it just goes to show.

4D opens out to the left so sometimes people travelling together will book 4A and 4D when 1AK is not available. This is probably the best alternative to 1AK but 4D doesn't have a window. To be honest, I wouldn't mind 4D if no other seat were available because outside of takeoff/landing, I probably keep the shade closed anyways.
4AK are bassinet seats so they're usually blocked off. If you're flying solo, sometimes people purposesly book 4A taking the chance that 4D will be empty, essentially allowing them to keep 4A as their normal seat and 4D as their bed.

Just fyi, 4D is the only seat in F where I cannot plug my personal headphones in. The clearance is too narrow for my two-pronged jack with my headphones (Senheiser PXC-450s) plugged in. I've seen the Bose connector and think it's the same issue. So you'll need to use CX's headphones.
