All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - Award Redemption - Y seat option and Fuel Surcharges?

I have some NH miles that are going to expire and so I want to book tickets with these to SE Asia. Unfortunately, I only have miles for 4 Y seats not C seats. In reading this forum, it looks like the NH Y seats are to be avoided. Hence, how would folks rate the Y travel between the following carriers:
UA (can get E+ since Prem Exec), NH, SQ, OZ.

Fuel surcharges - does NH tack these on regardless of the carrier? i.e. Do I get hit with these even if the transpac are on UA?

If it wasn't for that E+ you're eligible for, I'd prob put UA on the bottom (Legroom is very important to me). But you can't beat Singapore economy. NH has a solid new entertainment system, but their seats really annoy me. Even their Biz seats are a little too spartan for my tastes. OZ is great from what I hear but never flew them.

I have yet to find an award, ANA or Star, using the ANA tool that doesn't display the fuel surcharge. It truly dilutes the value of their miles.
