Thinking about stopping by Ft. Lauderdale to see all the yachts. Normally I go the weekend before - it is far more interesting to see a traffic jam of yachts as they arrive in absurdly narrow channels than to look at their sterns during the show themselves, but that weekend I may not be able to make it down there.

When do the yachts usually leave/ Do they start pulling out on the Monday following, or do they hang around for a few days?

I know the Water Taxi runs specials to the Boat Show - do they also offer the regular Water Taxi route without having to purchase admission?

If they don't, does the Jungle Cruise still run?

Thanks!

I don't have answers to the rest, but here's the info on water taxi that weekend from an e-mail response. I had inquired for stops, schedule, and if they would be running to the restaurant stops.

Thank you for contacting the Water Taxi! We will be glad to help you in planning your visit to Ft Lauderdale.

During the Boat Show, from Thursday through Monday, the Water Taxis will be operating back and forth from stops #2, 7, and 11 directly to the show at Bahia Mar between 8am and 8pm. Rate will be $10 per person for an unlimited on/off pass good until closing. Boats will run every 20-30 minutes in either direction. Regular service will be suspended during the show days.

There are no plans as of now to add restaurants to the route. However, stops # 2, 7, & 11 are all very near to numerous restaurants.

More information will be posted on our website at www.watertaxi.com as it becomes available, so we suggest checking the website or contacting us at 954-467-6677.

We look forward to welcoming you to Ft Lauderdale!

Would love a few pointers on where I should sightsee if I have one day at the show and am not in the market for a boat. Is there something I should stop for in the indoor convention center?

IIRC (too lazy to look it up), the boat show goes on through Monday. They start leaving shortly after that.
Jungle cruise still runs, but probably not so easy to get to, due to its proximity to the Boat Show.

Water Taxi schedule updated:

There have since been some updates that include some changes to the original information I gave you regarding the Boat Show.

The Water Taxis will be operating one hour before and one hour after the show closes Thurs Oct 27th through Monday Oct 31st. (Thurs – Sunday 9am - 8pm and Monday 9am – 6pm))

Taxis will be operating from # 1, # 2, and # 7 directly to the show and back. The River Route (normally stop # 11) is being chartered privately by the Boat Show. Guests must purchase a boat show ticket and park at the Riverfront to use this service. Passengers who use the private River Route to get to the show would then need to buy a Water Taxi wristband in order to ride the Water Taxis to stops #1, 2, and 7.

Water Taxi wrist bands will be available for purchase at stop # 2, 7, the Bahia Mar barge, and the Water Taxi kiosk located east of the Cocktail Barge in the show. Passengers leaving stop # 1 will purchase wristbands onboard.

Keep checking our website for further updates.

Best regards,
Valerie
