Hilton HHonors - HHonors properties in Montana get with the pgm
There have been enough complaints here (some by myself), so I just wanted to give a couple good experiences at the Hampton Inn in Kalispell and the Doubletree in Missoula.
Reservations made ahead of time, with Gold status noted.
Upon arrival upgraded rooms were waiting for me, even though the properties were both filled to capacity with no vacancies. At the Doubletree, breakfast vouchers were waiting for my party, and other goodie vouchers. As well as the cookies.
No hassles, arguments, asking for the manager. Instead I was greeted and thanked, and treated very well.
I wish the managers of some other hhonors properties could take a trip to Montana to see what hospitality is about.

Has anyone stayed at the Kalispell Hampton since '02? I'll be there later in the month and am curious about the service

I stay there monthly. As a Gold VIP, I get a jacuzzi suite every time. Just make sure to ask for an upgrade in the comment screen. The desk personel are very friendly and accomidating. The breakfast they serve in the morning is by far the best of any Hampton I have stayed at.
As far as the Doubletree in Missoula, Its hit or miss there on the upgrades. They have only 1 presidential suite and 4 "Executive Rooms". They are always first come first serve. The earlier you check in, the better your chances are. The desk personel are college students from the U of M and have little or no knowledge of Hilton Honnors or even care for that matter. The manager is very helpful however.

Thanks. I'm wondering if the $30 price difference for the night I'm looking at for Mrs. cblaisd and I is worth it.

I stayed at the Missoula DT Saturday night. The hotel itself was nice, it had just been remodeled. The rooms were nice, beds comfy. Wireless internet access. Free breakfast because I asked for it. It was not offered.
However, I reserved a 2bd 2ba suite. I went to my room to find out it was a 2q room. So I called downstairs and said it was an upgrade because of my diamond status. The 2bd suite had not been renovated, and it was not on the river. I explained to him that I need two bedrooms. So he gave me another room for free. So in all fairness they fixed the snafu quickly and brought me my keys. But how is a 2queen room an upgrade from a 2bd 2ba room?
I at dinner at Finn&Porter, and the food was just okay, and the service was lousy. On Sundays, they serve brunch only (no breakfast menu), and my coupons were not good for brunch. So i just ordered room service. Room service was quick, and it was quite good. I wouldn't eat dinner there again.
I didn't check out the fitness room, and the pool was outside.
All in all it was a pretty good stay, and I would stay there again.

Thanks for the update. I think I'll stick with the Hampton and save the $30 or $40 extra for a meal somewhere :)

Hi there,
I stayed at the DT in Missoula last night (6/29) and it was the usual deal. I got a king room on the river (an upgrade according to the front desk.) I also got 2 free drink coupons for the bar which is always very nice. They do this Mon-Thu for the " HH Manager's Reception." I also got a breakfast coupon which I had to ask for. All and all, the DT is not a bad property. I really just don't like the college student staff. They have no clue how long it takes to achieve Gold or Diamond status or really care. If they do have upgrades availible, they will give you an upgrade if you ask. I hate having to do that though. It should be automatic. Unfortunately, they just do not have many "executive rooms" and only one presidential suite at the hotel.

I'll be there next week for 1 night. Thanks for the info.

We just stayed at the Missoula DT and the breakfast policy has changed. The vouchers are now good for $10 toward breakfast and include the Sunday brunch (priced at $17.95pp). We did not get a voucher for everyone in the party - just for myself. My DH requested extra cookies and they were quite yummy. ;)

I just stayed in two Hilton properties in Montana.
The HI Helena was nice enough. Nothing too special, but a decent room and okay amenities (Oreo cookies and water were waiting for me when I arrived). It's a bit outside of town, but there's a casino across the street. Breakfast was pretty bad -- I would told it would be a 20 minute wait for more eggs. How long does it take to make scrambled eggs? If points don't matter, a colleague stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown - nicer place and right on the walking mall.
The HI Great Falls was better. Right near the airport, it's across the road from shops, restaurants, and a movie theatre. Workout room and pool were good, and the breakfast was better than most (they had homemade biscuits with eggs cut into circles to put on them). Got water and a granola bar in the room.
Oh, and no upgrades were available for either hotel. :(
The Hampton Inn in Billings, Montana is excellent. They have some very nice suites too.
