I am Hilton Honors Gold. What should I expect to be matched at BWR ? Since Gold at Hilton comes after blue and Silver, and Gold is a starting point at BWR, can i expect a Diamond match ?

thanks

I would say you would probably get platium if they do a comparable match. In all honesty, I see no difference at all between PM and DM at best western if you go for airline miles and if you go for points you get 30% bonus points instead of 15%. It's not like you will get lounge access of the diamond force like you will with Hilton diamond.

I am diamond at BW thanks to status matching my HH diamond status and have noticed no difference between being and when I had no status except for the points. Domestically there is only one BW I stay at, and was told by the front desk manager that my status didn't mean a thing with me being upgraded. I used to stay there a lot and when I did a lot of times if the front desk clerk saw me walking up and no one was in line my key would be ready and the sheet would be out for me to sign since they recongized me. The front desk manager said since I stayed there so much, if they had an upgrade available, I would get it whether I had no status or was diamond.

I think Gold at HH is worth a lot more than Diamond at BW. Hilton allows you to double dip, you get free breakfast and wifi (althought every BW I have stayed at has had free wifi for everyone) and a chance at lounge access if there is an exec lounge.

Thanks for your insight. Yes, I see no tangible benefits by being an elite BW member. Oh well..... can't find a Hilton where I am going ( Eindhoven) , so have to stay content with BW.

Well if you are going for points instead of miles, you will at least get some extra BW points out of it. You earn 250 miles per stay if you go with miles or if you are blue 10 points per $ spent and as diamodn 13 points per $ spent on your room. You can convert 5K BW points into 1,000 miles so I figure if you are going to spend over $250 on a stay with no status or over $193 as a diamond, you are better off taking the BW points and converting them to miles when you need them.

There are tangible benefits to being an elite BW member, just not necessarily tangible in-hotel benefits.

The tangible benefits, besides the bonus points on points stays, and even more important IMHO, is that usually you can earn much more in promos if you're elite (at least in the top levels) than if not. For example, you can earn 2x or 3x on more stays in the current promo if you're elite (enough) than if you're not.

The issue with in-hotel benefits is two-fold: One, "all BW hotels are independently owned & operated", and that causes more confusion about member benefits than at hotel families where hotels are more closely tied to corporate. Two, many BW hotels (especially the motels) don't have much of anything to upgrade you to; all their rooms are pretty much the same.

I have gotten the occasional upgrade here or there, but it's very hit or miss so far.

I am in the exact same situation. Currently HHonors Gold, I will be Diamond by years end. Problem is ther are no Hiltons where I travel to also, Philippines, so I guess I will do the status match and give BW I try.

You can argue that Hilton HHonors Gold is equivalent to over 30-odd plus nights:

The Rewards Team will determine the equivalent Best Western RewardsŪ Elite tier/status level that matches the Competitor Loyalty Programme elite status, based upon a review of number of night stays required to meet the comparable elite tier/status levels. Elite tier/status levels available through Best Western RewardsŪ are Platinum Elite (awarded after 15 qualified nights in one (1) calendar year) and Diamond Elite (awarded after 30 qualified nights in one (1) calendar year).

Hello,
I just did the status match from HH Gold to BW and they gave me Platinum Elite status. It was easy, one email with a copy of my gold card and got response next day.
