EL AL Matmid - Ex-TLV, should we go to PEK or HKG?
We have a choice whether to fly LY (from TLV) to PEK or HKG in Business Class. Looks like TLV-PEK is a two-class 767 and TLV-HKG is a three-class 777 (but not sure about that).
I tried to look at the LY web site but that's about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Does anyone have any experience of aircraft on those two routes? Best wishes to all for a גמר חתימה טובה .... FF

Generally I'd say avoid the 767.

the 777 is much better than 767.
although the 777 is a 3 class config. they 99% of the time do not sell the first class section. in those cases, the first class section has regular business class service.
if you have status with elal (platinum+), you can those seats with no extra cost during the reservation. if your gold, you can get those at the airport if available , at no extra cost. if you are less than gold, they chage 500$ for it (i've seen it happen ...)
of course the 777 has personal TV, the 767 doesnt but i think you get an ipad with movies.

With all due respect, I believe a chocolate teapot is much more useful!
I agree with yosithezet about avoiding the 767. As you mention that you will be flying C, it shouldn't matter whether or not the plane is 3-class. However, the 777 has angled lie-flats in C, as opposed to the even older recliner seats in C on the 767.
If you're interested in splurging on F, I do believe that LY changed the policy, that they now will sell F up to 2 weeks before the flight, and only if after 2 weeks, no one has purchased F, then the F seats will simply become premium C seat. If so, this applies to all 3-cabin plane routes.

Umm... shouldn't you also consider which city you want to visit?
BJ and HK are both great cities that I love, and are so very different.

Umm... shouldn't you consider that we're going to both and that it doesn't matter to which we go first?
And thanks to all - looks like we'll stick with the 777.
