Troublesome? Yes. However, "points is points". You can do the profile for 1000, but you could do profile and quote for 2000.
Thanks for the information.

Or you could do the profile, do the profile again, and do the quote, for 3000 points.

I did this, but my quote was more than twice what I'm currently paying.
1000 points for about 7 minutes isn't bad, though.

You know, come to think of it, a stay takes 12 hours, cost a $100 and only give you a 1000 base points.
This deal is looking better all the time!

There's a form in the latest HH mailing. You can mail or fax it in - easier than talking on the phone.

There's another thread where many object to providing identification when checking into a Hilton Hotel . . .however the application for the insurance quote seems to ask for more personal identifying info than showing proof of identy @ a hotel.

I received the quote in the mail. It really was twice what I am currently paying. And no, I have not received the miles.

My question is whether you are now receiving mail or email spam from this effort? I avoid these things like the plague - seems there is always unwanted fallout.

Nothing via snail mail (at least not that I can discern). No way I could tell re email (can't remember if I gave them my email). Plus, for stuff like this, I always use my yahoo email instead of my employer's email, which is already inundated w/ junk email from all the other promotions Flyertalk has helped me take advantage of. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Points???
I never even received the insurance quote after mailing in the request form back in January.

My quote is dated Jan. 28, but I still don't have the points. If after 8 weeks I still don't have them, I'll be on the phone again, just can't wait to be on the phone again, I'm calling for my points that never seem to post, and I just can't wait to be on the phone again ... tls

Still no points after 8 weeks... I phoned their 877 325 7727 number, and they transferred me to another number, which turned out to be a robot dedicated to getting people their past promotional credit (seemed generic- applied also to American Airlines?) to which I must leave my message. The message said my points would post in a week. Fine, I left a message, and asked for a human to phone me back to confirm. No call back, and after a week, no points.
So I called GMAC again yesterday and spoke to Chris. Chris said that if I received a quote, the AA points should have posted. I repeated that these were HHonors points, not AA. He said check with Hilton (...here we go...).
At that point I said fine, and sent emails to hhonors. Twice. Now there is not even an autoreply to acknowledge receipt anymore.
I'll also call GMAC back today, and ask to speak to managers of managers, or if I get stonewalled, just start sending emails to their corporate officers.
How bout y'all, are you getting these points trickling in yet?

Makes me kind of glad I never received the quote. Now I don't have to wonder when/if I'll ever get the HH points.

My insurance expires at the end of the
month so I thought I'd give GMAC an
opportunity. What a waste of time.
You've got a customized car? We cannot
insure that ... http://miata.cardomain.com/id/dranz
You've got an off-road vehicle? [dune
buggy] We cannot insure that ...
Mercedes quote was double what my current
insurer wants.
No tickets, no problems. GMAC apparently
is *not* in the auto insurance business.

They didn't call me back. I called again today, and actually spoke to a supervisor this time. She was more helpful than the last person I spoke to anyway, and said there was a technical problem on their end, and they were working to fix it (and that I was the 2d person to call today on this issue), and that someone would call me later today w/ more info. I have contacted Hilton about this and they have responded with their apologies and 1,000 points being credited to my account.
I wouldn't even try to go through GMAC. They are slow giving.
By the way, the quote was outrageous!! Three times as much as what I'm paying for now. No thanks, GMAC.

It took 3 emails to HHonors customer service but I finally got my 1000 points. When I look at my account statement online, though, it's posted as a Service Center Bonus Adjustment, so perhaps I didn't truly get credit for the insurance quote.
