Hawaii - Do airlines other than AA not have catering at LIH?

Just arrived at LIH from LAX. Before we deplaned, the purser said to remember that when we return to LA were would be little to no food on the plane, even in FC, so we should make sure to eat before coming to the airport or come to the airport early and get food to bring on board. She didn't give a time frame, so it sounds like this is a (semi?) permanent thing? Normally, I take the non-stop to HNL from ORD so I haven't flown from the mainland to LIH in a while. Does anyone know what's going on?

American. I was thinking it might be a widespread thing (i.e., other airlines) because the airport is so small. However, I can only find references to American. I did a google search and came up with this thread from the American forum.

No catering companies aka Gate Gourmet at LIH. They would have to be double catered out of the originating mainland city. I do know that UA was contracting with the Kauai Marriott at one time to cater their outbound LAX and SFO flights. I remember regularly passing the grey UA catering truck leaving the loading dock entrance out of the Marriott across Harbor Mall driving up the hill to LIH. They also used the Kauai Marriott as their layover hotel. I haven't flown UA out of LIH in a couple of years so I don't know if they still contract out to the Kauai Marriott or double cater in LAX/SFO.

I flew DL once LAX-LIH about 2 years ago and it was double catered out of LAX. Not sure about AS and US.

AS Used to be double catered. Now there is local catering out of LIH. See:

That ended years ago, all the UA mainland flights are double catered now.
