Sigh...

Shimon, I know what you mean and I doubt any of our Flyer Talkers here take these Chartered flights to Uman, this seems to be a crowd flyers who have no past experience in flying at all.

I witnessed a talk in the grocery store next to my home:
Will you be coming to Uman this year?
I hope so!
Do you have a passport?
I don't think I'll need one, I'll just buy a ticket....

Based on the pictures of the news sites that show the trips to Uman, Most Charter flights to Uman are with some Ukrainian Airlines chartered flights, almost non of them are on ELAL Metal that I can see.

This was a statement by a rabbi employed by El Al. Is it actually an official statement?

The title should be directed to the Uman goers not hasidim.

They should use Sun D'Or instead of LY, and not risk damage to actual LY metal :p

In all seriousness, the plane should take off on time. If people are in Duty Free, too bad. Anyone caught smoking, levy the appropriate fines, and make sure they're arrested. No reason to start dancing around some pax

A little pedantic.

Not to get political here, I think the OP should change the title wording a little bit to ELAL to Uman travellers/passengers.
If Ynet decide to generalize and use certain wording for their own known reasons let them go ahead but we at FT should not.
Most of these travellers are not the Hasidim one has the impression of, most are if fact people who have come from secularity to orthodoxy, myself not Hassidic but affiliated to some in business I know that hasiddim do not do these stuff!
These people are not Hassids just a cult of their own and they would agree to this themselves!
So not to get into flames here, OP, I think you should change wording.
[Besides, I think that LY thrive for this season, as usually tickets to these places are around $350 - $400 and now suddenly around $900...]

Just changed it to: ELAL to Uman travellers/passengers

Also I don't see how LY makes money, as I have not observed any LY Metal being chartered for the Uman Flights, most of these flights to Uman from TLV are operated by Ukrainian or Russian carriers!

+1
If people don't show up at the gate, too bad for them!
Doesn't it state that smoking in LY bathrooms can be punished by a prison sentence + a fine?
LY is right to enforce the rules, and unfortunately, there are people who are not down to earth even when flying an airplane. But no need for Ynet to give an anti-religious taste to this article.

If when they are not flying they haven't got their feet on the ground, what can you expect when they are really flying?!

But no need for Ynet to give an anti-religious taste to this article.

Going OT, but unfortunally YNET pounces on the opportunity to do so.

I think we have now been alerted to the article and understand what they are addressing. I'm going to close the thread before it wanders too far afield.
