Florida - 6 hour Layover in FLL anywhere close to airport to just lay out etc?

Hello Everyone,

Have a 6 hour layover tomorrow at Ft. Lauderdale FLL. Is there anywhere closeby to layout get some sun, beach, etc at or close to the airport?

I can try standing by for an earlier flight...but wouldn't mind staying the 6 hours if I can get some sun/decent food.

I land at 12noon and leave at 6pm. Earlier flight is at 3pm.

No bags here, just doing a quick MR same day turn.

Go on Priceline or Hotwire and rent a car. The beach is about a 15 minute drive to the airport. Trust me, unless your idea of a good time is watching people in stretch pants with screaming children in one of the most dirty airports I've ever been in you don't want to spend a considerable amount of time at FLL. And if you want to connect, there are like two plugs in each Concourse/Terminal.

... or you can take a city bus to the beach; might take a few minutes longer but all day ticket for all BCT buses is only USD4.

Bus 1 Northbound stops at all terminals and goes to Broward Central Terminal. 40 to the beach from there.

Dania Beach is about 15 min from the airport and very peaceful and relaxing. There is easy parking and you shouldn't have any issues getting back for your return flight.

Bus 1 Northbound stops at all terminals and goes to Broward Central Terminal. 40 to the beach from there.If one is taking this option, one might want to make the transfer at the corner of South Federal Highway and SE 17th Street Causeway (northbound Route 1 transferring to westbound Route 40). This avoids the backtracking to the Central Terminal.

The issue becomes whether using BCT will allow enough time at the destination.

This is my recommendation, too. Not too far from the airport, pretty much idiot-proof in terms of directions/logistics for getting from/to the airport, etc.
