Can someone please tell me if there is a Post Office outlet at OSL airport? I think there is one according to the OSL airport website.. but can you tell me where it is so that I can just go straight to it ...?

Tak !

I don't think there is one. According to the "Posten" website the nearest one is in Jessheim a few kilometers away.

By the way "tak" means roof, "takk" is Norwegian for thanks ;)

They still have post offices in and around Oslo? I cannot recall seeing one at OSL airport in recent years (not that I have been looking), but there was at least a mailbox somewhere around there and stamps could be bought there or at the Radisson IIRC.

[In Stockholm, most such services are provided at grocery stores and at convenience stores/newsstand+tobacco-selling type stores -- even the traditional post office building in central Stockholm was sold off some years ago as I found out when trying what used to be normal before for non-residents: request mail to be held at the main post office for pick-up in person by the non-residents.]

There are a few post offices left, there's one in Oslo railway station for instance, but most are "Post i Butikk" (postal counter in a shop). You get get stamps everywhere.

I;m bringing a present for a friend and although I will be going to BGO later on, I don't want to take the gift with me from OSL to AMS to FRA to BGO ! I'd rather just mail it when I'm on transit in OSL.

So you guys are certain that there isn't a PO at OSL airport then?

Takk !

Welcome to FT, and thanks for the info.

I think the last time I needed to use a post service in Scandinavia, I ended up at the postal museum in Stockhom's Gamla Stan to get my business done. Seriously, a museum. :o In contemporary fashion, they ended up directing me to a "post i butikk" type facility in a store.

If you call this number +47-21316250 during local bank hours, you will probably get in contact with someone who can speak English and knows for sure.

You could enter the airport address on this map http://kart.posten.no/default.aspx?visible=bedrift;pib;post;kasser&checked=post;pib;kasser and see what comes up, but I trust the phone number more.

Something came up for "Flyporten" (airport) in 2060 (zip code for OSL-Gardermoen area) -- all look to be mailboxes. I suggest calling.

No postoffice in the terminal (never has been). Used to be a postoffice in a building a few minutes walk from the teminal, but not listed on posten.no so I guess they have closed it.

You may just ask one of the bookstores at OSL to mail the package for you, as long as you have enough stamps on it etc it should not be a problem. I know you can mail letters this way at OSL. They will just send it with the regular post service to the shops.

You can check the required postage on posten.no , there's an English version. If you're not sure, let me know the size and weight of the package and I'll try to calculate it for you

Oh fudge !!

Someone else (over at the SK forum) said that there is one..

Well, its kinda useless to go to the postal website and find out how much stamps are required when you don't have Norwegian stamps to begin with !

You may be able to get Norwegian stamps at the Radisson hotel at the airport (just a minute outside the door of the terminal) or perhaps at one of the stores at the airport itself. But mailboxes don't handle anything but letters and the smaller packages well, so I'm not sure what good that would do you if you were to buy stamps and walked to a mailbox only to find out the item is too large to fit into the mail box slot.

The Radisson OSL hotel staff has shipped stuff out for me before, but I was staying there at the time or had just checked out and this was some years ago
