Entirely my fault.

Hotel is Crowne Plaza Cleveland City Center.

How hosed am I, getting to/from CAK and Hotel ?

What (affordable) options are there for getting from CAK to downtown Cleveland ?

Thanx !

Option 1.) Ask at baggage claim if anyone is headed to Cleveland. Offer to Pick up the fuel....
Option 2.) Check into one way rentals to CLE, drop the car and take the ransid transit downtown or just keep the rental car to run around town.
Option 3.) Loooooooooong walk.....:D

I would do transit option, then get a cab when you're downtown.

CLE is one of the few airports in the midwest with good rapid transit, others are CLE, ORD, STL and MSP.

ok, thanx for feedback...

really was hoping to avoid rental car.

see there are no supershuttles out of either CAK/CLE.

i think $1 megabus goes to/from Akron/Cleveland.

just have to figure out how close Akron megabus stop would be to CAK, and if the bus schedule will synch up with my flight schedule.

lesson learned.

The good news is the Cleveland Megabus stop (at W 3rd and Frankfort) is walkable from your hotel (on St. Clair between E 6th and E 9th), though it may take you 15-20 minutes.

The bad news is that the Akron Megabus stop is at the Akron Transit Center in south Akron, and not exactly close to the airport. I couldn't figure out if it is possible to get from CAK to the transit center by bus, but you may have better luck with the Akron Metro (http://www.akronmetro.org) website.

If you have to take a cab to the transit center, you may as well rent a car and drive to Cleveland yourself. Renting a car at CAK is easy, with most major companies on site (unlike CLE, which has an off-site rental center that is halfway to Detroit).

Sadly, public transportation in Northeast Ohio is pretty poor and is mostly by bus. The rapid transit lines in Cleveland are mostly useful for getting from the airport or a couple of specific suburbs to downtown.
