I will be arriving at Terminal 2 of McCarran Airport and I wish to check-in at the Park Place Entertainment check-in area at Terminal 1. I read that the PPE check-in location is next to the luggage carousel. Is it possible for me to reach this area even though I come from the other terminal? Thank you.

Yes, it is not in the restricted area.

Hi,
When I used that same approach last august ( arrived VS T2 and checked for Las Vegas Hilton, when you leave the baggage claim area there was a person at each exit checking your baggage tag against your baggage receipt so you may want to keep your receipt handy.
The PPE check in was a breeze, I was seen almost immediately and I got all my assoicated coupons in one go.) -There was a fairly long queue at the Hilton so it saved me some time.

Since Sept. 11 there is no more checking of baggage tags at LAS. You will find the airport checkin rooms at the far end of the room containing the baggage carousels for United, National, etc. at the base of the escalators.

By the way, Terminal 2 is in a separate building. I don't know that it would save you much time to stop at Terminal 1 before heading out to the Hilton.

You are correct Mr. Lion http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
The only advantage of taking the extra time to check-in at the Park Place booth at the luggage area is that you will have a better chance of giving your HHOnors number and airline # so you can get you stay credit and points.
In many cases if you check in at the hotel property itself the staff tends to say you can't give your HHonors number/airline number.
There are a few threads on this but the search function is working very slow right now.
Good Luck in Vegas!

Thank you all for your reply.
I will be staying at Bally's and after doing my homework and searching a few threads, I thought that maybe as a HHonors Gold I'll have more chances to have my stay credited - and, although the expectation is none, to be upgraded. Also, as I am arriving around 10am, I may have to wait at the hotel before being able to check-in as it was the case previously with some of the hotels. So this time, I thought to try that check-in sytem.

My Paris stays are always credited. Perhaps someone could post experience with Bally's, which is really the same hotel.

I went to Bally's last week and here is a little update. It was very easy to transfer from Terminal 2 (International) to Terminal 1 (Domestic) by using the transfer bus outside T2. It was a bit difficult looking for the Park Place Entertainment check-in area but managed to find it. There were two check-in staffs and a queue of 5 people at 10.30am. I have given my name and HHonors Gold card, the check-in lady looked a bit confused as she asked me the same question over and over again about bedding and smoking or non - she must have been tired - then gave us our key and coupon book. No upgrade or amenities or perks or whatever. We asked for the shuttle bus transportation and were charged 5.00 per person to our room. It was rather difficult to find the right shuttle bus gate but made it eventually. When we arrived, we were very disappointed to find that the King bed room we requested was a Twin bed room - at that point, we were so tired with jet lag, we didn't have the strength to complain and decided to settle for this. Our room was facing Barbary Coast + Flamingo so it was a bit noisy with sirens. On the last day it was really windy and the building was making a strange crackling noise, which was a bit bothering. My stay appeared on my HHonors account three days after check-in.
