Hilton HHonors - Any HHonor Silver members out there ?

Asking this Q. just out of curiosity ?

If this animal does exist , they are definitely an endangered species. All it takes is one phone call, and any lame excuse to get Gold (Hopefully I'm not upsetting too many people).

As far as I'm concerned HHonor has only two elite levels for all practical purposes. Thoughts ?

I'm a silver. I've only stayed at a hilton property once in the last year, but i'm virtue of silver because i have the hilton amex. Guess, I'm not sure (a) that they'd give me gold, or (b) that it's worth the trouble given my unfortunate string of non-travel ... tls

Reaching HHonors elite status has become so easy as to significantly diminish the benefits for the real frequent traveler. Case in point --- earlier this month I checked in late at the San Jose Towers Hilton. The desk clerk apologetically informed me that she had no upgrades because 80% of the hotel guests were Gold or Diamond members. I'm sure I'm not alone in urging Hilton to reconsider its all too frequent "rush to gold" campaigns.

I was Silver and expected to stay that way, but four close-together stays and the Gold card arrived in the mail. I'm not complaining. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I was at 6 different Hiltons in a week last week. I e-mailed HHonors to see if they might do a comp upgrade to Gold because of all the stories I've seen on here about upgrading if you have a lot of stays close to each other.

The response? Just the auto-reply...am I being optimistic?

I too am still a lowly Silver. I have thought about trying the Gold Upgrade but I really don't think it is ethical, since my understanding is that it was intended for those with high elite status in AAdvantage or CO, and I have never had elite status in AA and I haven't had it in CO for several years.

I'm silver and it really doesn't matter much to me if I'm gold or not. If I earn it, fine, but if I don't, no big deal.

A call to the HHonors service center had prompted me to ask this question.

I had a general question and the rep. thought
I was a Silver member, and told me she was
upgrading me to Gold as I might like that
level better.

1. 10% more points per stay
2. Opportunity for an upgrade at check-in
3. Starwood will match you to Gold, and their Gold is much better.

Starwood will give you complimentary Gold if you are in the British Airways Executive Club, according to the latest membership guide.

Not to sound negative, but for every one of us that posts here, there are several multiples more that read our posts. Part of the reason so many people have the Gold comps is because the codes get leaked. Don't get me wrong, I am all for sharing them with fellow flyertalkers, but I would encourage everyone to post "e-mail me for the code" messages as opposed to posting the codes themselves on the internet. Hilton has had to end some wonderful offers because of internet leaks, some arguably attributed to Flyertalk posts.

Silver VIP used to be a good tier (pre-HHonors Worldwide, albeit in a much more limited context with selection of properties etc), and I myself was a Silver VIP for quite some time. I fear that it has been hard to find a niche for these members. I personally think Business Floor upgrades, or breakfast coupons might be a reasonable incentive. I would like to see the Silver tier improved and made more distictive, as I feel this will allow Hilton to cater in a more focused way to the needs of Gold VIPs. If the value of this tier becomes diluted, staff will start to treat Golds with indifference and this would risk of a general decline in the service provided to HHonors members in general.
