Cruises - Has anyone experienced Virtuoso cruise benefits?

Title says it all. Thinking of switching my reservation on Silversea next June to Virtuoso - totally unimpressed (again) with AMEX Centurion travel services and had a very good experience with a hotel booking with this agent.

Has anyone experienced the on-board amenities that Virtuoso offers and, if so, I would love to hear opinions about how special/worthwhile they were.

Many thanks-

Steve

There are actually quite a few cruise consortia out there besides Virtuoso that offer cruise benefits. Many of them have some affiliation with Amex so you can still get your Amex benefits as well.

The Virtuoso offers are generally either a SBC or a private (meaning Virtuoso TA clients only) shore event. You can also accept a credit towards your own privately crafted shore event, but that tends to be more complicated. Not all Silversea Voyages are part of the offical Virtuoso "Voyager Club" and some Silversea fares are exempt.

I have found the Virtuoso events well planned in lovely places with a superb meal. In addition, they sponsored a cocktail party onboard beforehand.

It depends - I got a small Virtuoso OBC for HAL but paid with my platinum AMEX and received a larger OBC. I am getting both - my agent is Virtuoso and didn't realize that I could do both - now she does :D

Well that would be amazing! What was involved in getting the AMEX OBC?

If anyone has a Virtuoso-affiliated agency they could recommend, please PM me their contact info.

I'm looking at a cruise that has a private Virtuoso tour I'm interested in and I'm having difficutly actually connecting with an Agent off the Virtuoso website.

Thanks

She just had to ask AMEX, which she did.

I used a Virtuoso agency to book cruises especially on Crystal and the events etc were the highlight of the cruises.

The advantage of Vituoso is that they can book a lot more than cruises.

Do the agents at American Express have any experience with the cruise lines or are they just booking off a computer? I can't imagine dealing with someone that wasn't an expert on that cruise line. My agent really knows Silversea ships inside and out and has been to many of the destinations.

He is not Virtuoso however and I don't think I'm missing anything.

As to the Amex credit, if you pay with a regular Plat card (not MB) you get up to $300 OBC.

Virtuoso benefits are instead of the Amex $300 cabin credit ---in most cases. We usually take the Virtuoso tour---They have always been outstanding.
To obtain a Virtuoso agent just go to there web site and call them.
They will recommend one in the geographic area that you live.
