ah, the joys of aging. I'm soon taking my first trip with a medical device that I am to carry with me wherever I go. It isn't huge, but will be an inconvenience since its too large to fit into my backpack. Since I really shouldn't be checked, will DY allow it as an exception? I'm perfectly happy to explain to them what the device is and why I'm carrying it. However, carrying it and a laptop could be an issue. Their pax FAQs don't cover it.
any experience?

DY makes some exceptions for medical devices at airports, but if the device can't fit into (the x-ray scanner at security and) in the overhead bin easily and if your laptop is in a big case/bag of its own, the likelihood of there being some kind of issue rises.
If there's a possibility of checking in with the carry-on item(s) out of sight at time of check-in, the chances of getting it on the plane also rise.
DY staff is rather reasonable, even as a self-styled kind of low cost carrier.
