I will be in Chicago this weekend (May 17th) and will be staying at the Chicago Hilton.
Does anyone know what the best Chicago Style Pizza is available close by the Chicago Hilton (and please do not include Pizzeria Unos)?
Also, does Hilton have any promotions going on for May 17th weekend?
-Thanks

About 2 miles away (at 633 N. Wells) is Gino's East...great Chicago style, IMO. A great atmosphere. Get there early, because you will most likely have to stand in line for 30-45 min. Kind of depends, though, I've been at both extremes as far as wait time. Oh yeah, bring a marker, pen, white-out, or whatever you have to write your name on the wall!

This post belongs in FT Dining area. It has nothing to do with HILTON HHONORS.

Why would you post that here? You've belonged to this board for over a year, so I would think you would know better.

Hmm, do you get Hhonors points for telling people they are posting in the wrong forum? Because if you don't, why would you bother?
And, does my post count since I'm asking about HHonors points?

I'd just like to point out that the post did ask about Hilton promotions that weekend. Aside from that, there is also a Gino's East at 62 E. Ontario. Also good is Giordano's at 730 N. Rush and Lou Malnati's at 439 N. Wells.

From the title, I thought it was about something like a free Hilton weekend certificate when you buy a large Chicago Style Pizza... Or the other way around... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Forget Gino's. It's in the former Planet Hollywood, which imho harms its authenticity.
Hit Lou Malnati's instead, which is one block south on Wells.
Beautiful pies. If you have time, you should head for the original Lou's on the near NW side.
And I imagine you can earn Hilton HHonors points by using a credit card that awards such points for purchases.

Thanks for all the wonderful Pizza ideas.
Sorry about my fauxpaux (spelling) about putting this in here.
I am curious to know if there are any Hilton promotions going on for May 17-May 19?
I will print this out so I can take it with me.

Ok, great trip.
Went with Lou Malnati's. Very good and glad that I got it, but I have had better in the past.
Still very good, and I wish I had more right now.

Luddgang, are you aware that Pizzeria Uno in Chicago is NOT the same crap that you get at the nationwide Pizzeria Uno chain? For my money, Uno and Due are the most consistently good Chicago style pizza in the city, but I would not think of patronizing that chain in any other city. However, you probably will never go too far wrong at Gino's East or Lou Malnati's either.

I was not aware that the Chicago place was diff. than the Pizza Uno's at other cities.
OK, I will try the real deal next time.
Yeah, the Uno's in Michigan was crap.
Thanks!!!

Well I'm glad this was posted here - not in Dining, since I never look there. I always thought Pizzeria Uno was crap and now I know there are good ones elsewhere.
But - do you know if they are associated with the ones in Chicago, and if so, why such a difference in quality?

From the Pizzeria Uno (http://www.pizzeriauno.com/) website:
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">In Chicago, eating pizza is a dining experience, not just a snack. But it wasn't always that way.
Ike Sewell changed things back in 1943 when he created Deep Dish Pizza. Some folks call it Chicago pizza. Ike figured that if you combined some of Italy's old, authentic recipes with impressive quantities of the finest meats, spices, vegetables and cheeses, pizza would become a hearty meal. So he opened Pizzeria Uno as a fine restaurant specializing in his new Deep Dish Pizza and it wasn't long before the restaurant had more customers than it could handle.
Because Uno's didn't have enough room to expand, Ike did another wonderful thing. He opened Pizzeria Due on the opposite street corner in the lower level of a beautiful, Victorian Mansion. The rest is legend. Pizzeria Uno and Due have become the most celebrated Pizzerias in the world. They've been mentioned in gourmet cookbooks, written about in magazines and major newspapers, and featured on television and radio shows.
Ike's Original Deep Dish Pizza has been imitated many times - but never quite duplicated.
