Gaming Loyalty Programs - comped rooms at harrah's properties with a companion

Hey there,
Advanced apologies if I'm asking something discussed before but I couldnt find it. Does anyone know the strictness of the companion being present at check in when you've booked free or discounted rooms with a companion? I know one hotel that has a self check in kiosk (think it's harrah's ac) but I've been to caesar's Vegas and both my friend and I needed to be there.
Would like to use my friends diamond rate for rooms at harrah's Tahoe and new Orleans but she isn't coming...
Thanks!

My experience is that it will depend on the individual checking you in. I have had 4 separate comp'd room reservations each booked with a companion TR account on the reservation this year at different CET LV properties. 3 of the 4 required IDs and TR cards from both guests. The most recent one did not - she required only the ID and TR card for the guest under whose name the reservation was made.

I've found it more and more common that they ask for the companion's ID at check-in. When you book through the site and enter a companion number, they now have a button you must click that says that the companion must be there or the room will revert to standard rate.

If the individual whose play the room comp is based on is not present, there is zero chance that any casino hotel will check you in whether you are listed as a companion or not.

Just back from Imperial Palace and they never asked for anything other than my ID, but the Rio, on the same trip did ask for it.
Seems to vary like you suggest.
I'm guessing that if a diamond is traveling with a gold member, they aren't going to be too picky about checking the gold's status. However, if it's a gold with the diamond as the "companion", they're going to want to see the diamond's ID.

I think as a whole it's YMMV. I've experienced both being asked and not being asked on the same trip at 2 different properties.
In your scenario, I would be careful as you're probably a gold member and using a diamond level member's perks - they are probably more likely to ensure the companion is present but this is just a wild guess.

There really aren't any diamond 'perks' that a companion gold card holder could use. Also, status only loosely translates into better comp rooms. It's all about your theo; and a gold with a higher theo will get better rooms (dates, selection etc.) than a diamond with a lower theo.
I've found that it is loosely based on the property, with regard to checking for companions at check-in. It's inconsistent, and YMMV, but there are some CET properties that definitely follow the rules much more closely than others.

Thanks everyone. I ended up booking a room at Harvey's tahoe and got a decent rate with my lowly gold status.
