Any experience booking RTW star alliance award tickets? Trying to maximize itinerary under 25K miles in F. So far best I came up with is the following:

SFO
LAX
ICN (stop)
PVG (stop)
NRT (stop)
BKK (stop)
CDG (stop)
ZRH (stop)
VCE (stop)
MUC
SFO

10 Segments, 7 stops, 23,286 miles.

It wont work because of PVG-NRT backtracking.

Asiana makes the zoning very simple. Under the article #3: it states that

Based on IATA: 3 zones: 1) "The americas" 2) Europe/Africa/Middle East 3) Asia/Oceana

That's it. 3 zones. you are allowed backtracking within the zone.

So PVG- NRT will work.

I stand corrected. Thanks.

There are also some good F class products that you don't want to miss if you're paying.

OZ F / NZ C / NH F(IoJ) / CA F on 77W / TG F on a leased 77W / SQ F/R (surcharge apply) / LX F on a 333 / LH F on a 388 or 747 (!)

So I would try to find LAX-ICN on OZ F, NRT-BKK on TG F (that's operated by leased 77W), BKK-CDG the same, consider ZRH to a east coast, like IAD or JFK on F, finally you can connect your US domestic on UA.

No LH F to visit the FCT? If possible try doing FRA-MUC-SFO since I doubt there will be availability for a direct FRA-SFO.

That's a good idea since I have segments remaining. I wonder if Asiana agents will let me add FRA even though I am not stopping over there.

I am planning on 4 weeks. Some cities I plan on staying 5 nights to take advantage of 5th night free on reward stays, i.e. Paris and some 2 nights, i.e. Tokyo.

Keep in mind if you're in FRA connecting to LX F, you can also access the FCT.

Keep in mind SQ does not release R availability for non KF awards and on a *A RTW it's not even available for an A>R upfare. Good luck finding award SQ F as well. LH 388 F awards are also very difficult to come by and the only route I think they're regularly available is MIA-FRA.

My SFO-FRA LH F seat was obtained because they switched from a 744 to a 388; after that switch I saw F award availability dry up on that route.
