that used to be the Intercontinental, and the price is FULLY INCLUSIVE of food, beverages, tips and taxes! That is a steal!

Note the price is for a single bed! single occupancy. Extra person is significantly more, so if you have two people better book two rooms, and you can always negotiate something for adjoining or a king room.

I heard that October for Ixtapa, Cabo, and PV, they were running at something like 10% occupancy...

I have been to this hotel many years ago. It is the last hotel on the shore. I loved the food - they made some seafood soup at buffet which I couldn't get enough of. The minus: you can't swim in the ocean, the current is very strong. The plus: heated pool. People who stayed at Ritz Carlton next door were envious because they didn't have heated pool. The rooms were so-so, but if I paid $17 there would be no complains. Certainly hotel underwent changes - reviews were not so good after I wrote mine. Also, you have to travel about 30 minutes if not more to Los Cabos.
I am sure for such low price everyone should be very happy.

"You must call one of our Reservation Specialists at 1-800-xxx-xxxx. A change or update is defined as changes to date and/or time of booking, and a revised class of service or room type . A change fee of $30 USD per call will be collected. Additional hotel or car charges may also apply and must be paid in currency, not AAdvantage miles, via a major credit card or similar form of payment at time of change. $9.25 per night on LastMinuteTravel.com Search by lowest price and you'll see the 5* garden view room... LastMinuteTravel.com is the sister site of EasyClickTravel.com

SEARCH FOR 1 PERSON or you will get a higher rate. Also, there are low priced options for even higher priced rooms such as an Ocean FRONT room ($39.31). Again, search for 1 person.

That's what I paid for a week on AA.com. Lower pricing is for elites.

For those looking for airfares during holiday periods, you might check booking into La Paz (LAP). About 100 miles away.

Nothing yet. I'm going to give this a week to see if my new bookings are honored. Skoosh canceled my bookings last night.

Flights between LAX and Cabo are usually sub $300/rt. You might keep an eye on pricing during the week. Good airfare deals are hard to find on weekends.

This seems extreme, but is due to uncertain future of BA miles.
Of course will look at cash tickets and other mileage options.

Thanks, OP!

I know, I know, there are lots of issues with a car and taxes,
but I NEVER pay more than $5-10 to the police per day....

We never had a problem with the police, but we were warned about gas station attendants 'forgetting' to reset the amount on the pump before they start pumping your gas, effectively billing you for two tanks of gas.

We even WATCHED for it, but somehow, after we drove off, we calculated that they put 20 gallons of gas into a Jetta based on what we paid! :o

After the first attendant started pumping, a second one came over and started conversing with us, so I guess we were sufficiently distracted that we missed the sleight-of-hand...

I've redeemed miles... I was able to get an award ticket that works out perfectly for me. The start of the award ticket gets me home from JFK, when I need to come back from my DL WAW fare. Then, I stopover at home in PHX for a month. I fly to Cabo and back on the US nonstops for my Holiday Inn stay. On the way back, I have an overnight connection at home in PHX before flying on to CID the next day to see my family for Christmas.

Based on you post, I call lastminutetravel.com. They were extremely nice. What they told me is the hotel is saying they are "sold out" for the nights I booked with LMT. I was told LMT was still working with the hotel to free up one room, and it will probably take a few days to sort all this out.

Everyone who booked a room through useaamiles.com should contact them through the below link to force their hand on making sure these reservations stick. I don't want to wait too much longer before I find out if our reservation gets canceled or not because we need to lock in our airfare.

I have a week or two before I need to ticket,

I booked 2 rooms through AA. Because this was a honeymoon trip I needed to be sure it would fly. I actually had the ICH confirmation number and spoke directly to the hotel in Mexico to confirm. I was told they would not honor this reservation. She said the rate code wasn't even recognizable. Then I called AA hoping they would fix it but was told they would not. I'm glad I checked because usually the reservation is not sent to the hotel until 72 hours prior. At that point the hotel would have refused to honor it and it would have been devastating. I specifically asked what would have happened if my daughter had showed up in Mexico thinking she had a reservation and was told she would need to pay the additional ($171 per night) for the room at that time or she would not be able to stay. So glad I checked!

.....Then I called AA hoping they would fix it but was told they would not. As AA is so extremely clear on NONREFUNDABLE,
you may have a contract of some kind.
But playing with "deal" rates and Honeymoon Stays
are not very compatible, and you have made the right move.

Yes, my choice was a refund without penalty or paying the going rate and keeping the reservation. I chose the refund.

I think you did the right thing given your circumstances.

Nevertheless, the first line of legal copy under "Basic Terms and Conditions" on your AA voucher says.......

"Prices are guaranteed upon booking."

As Ricky Ricardo once said...."Lucy, You Got Some `Splainin’ To Do"

Yup, a couple of tickets on Alaska using a travel industry discount, so I paid $74.00 in taxes X 2 from SEA. I'm inclined to hang tough on this. The original conditions allowed no leeway and were stated "Non Refundable," my miles have been deducted and credit card charged.
I'm in the travel industry and can't just void out transactions that don't suit me due to an oversight or whatever. The rule of thumb is that you basically have 24 hours to respond/cancel or it's on me. American knows this, it's an industry standard, and they apply it on a daily basis to protect themselves.
It's my opinion that they have to honor the reservations thru the AA website. Possibly the hotel will object, but in the end AA will wind up paying if there is some add/collect. They make me pay for oversights.
I'm there on Oct 13, we'll see what happens.

I can only reiterate that they will not honor this. We had the emails and the IHG confirmation numbers. I actually spoke to the hotel in Mexico 3 times. They had no record of the reservation. I had to forward my email from IHG to them. Upon receiving it they responded they had received no information on it and could NOT honor the reservation. She said it was booked through Tourico who they have had trouble with. The rate description in the email "TARIFA MAYOREO USA B TARIFA NETA NO COMISIONABLE" was a red flag to them. I spoke to AA several times. Even a supervisor would not budge. They said it was a mistake, period. And there was no compensation. I could either cancel and get a refund or pay the going rate. I think there is every chance you could end up in Mexico with no room - or a very expensive one - no matter what your confirmation says!

FYI I always look on useaamiles.com first when booking hotels.. i've scored on several occasions where there have been mistakes.

I've successfully gotten elite recognition by calling in and attaching my loyalty/rewards number to my reservations before arrival.

I have also gotten stay credits on some of these "awards" with Hhonors and SPG.

Hope I dont jinx it! I will call the hotel tomorrow to check on my reservation, but AA (powered by TOURICO) is usually good and will book the stay several days prior before date of arrival.

Yeah, I just called AA reservations and they told me the same thing. AA says reservations are active. AA put me on hold and called hotel vendor (I'm assuming tourico). They told AA that the reservations are confirmed, and they are working out issues with hotel about pricing. However, AA told me she was assured by vendor the reservations will be honored.

Sorry to have been out of contact, I was trying to stay as far away from my laptop as I could. I will post more details later today, but there were no hassles at all.
When I checked in I mentioned it was a pretty good rate and the desk clerk smiled, said it was a mistake by the tour operator and that Turico is reimbursing the hotel so no worries on their end.
My wife ad I had booked separate rooms because it was a better deal and they consolidated that to one room and strapped on our "all inclusive" wristbands. They didn't even ask me for a credit card for incidentals; we were there six nights and there were no incidentals so when we checked out it was just a friendly "Adios, please come again."
The hotel is very nice, I've stayed there over the years and it's virtually in the same beautiful condition as it was when it was built 28 years ago.
I recognized many of the staff from a visit six years ago, which I think is a sign of good management. The staff is incredibly friendly. All in all it's a great place even at the regular rate.
Again, there were no additional fees at all and you don't need to feel guilty about the rate because the hotel is being reimbursed.
I waited until we returned to post so I would know how check out went, sorry about the delay, but as I originally posted "All is good."

Those of you who have not been may want to try some of the restaurants in town - or even Villa Serena on the highway (super lobster!). Edith's is very good as is Rafael's... and for some great Mexican, try Mi Casa.

Anyway, have a ball!

mcdevit's report sounds great. And no $14/night fee? wOw! that's excellent!

Thanks! I have a couple more thoughts on the deal. I think it's best to not call AA at this point. I got a pm from someone who did and was told that they would have to pay $172.00 per night or cancel as an option. Its my opinion from my experience that the hotel is fine with the deal and it's possible that AA might be trying to head off those that they can. I don't see the hotel denying those showing up with their vouchers.
Its a good idea to sign up for HI Priority Club before going as well because there's the possibility of a ground floor suite upgrade and late check out is guarenteed.
We had a car, but a taxi from the airport to the hotel was just about $20.00 and it's just a 10 minute, easy walk into San Jose. We just basically let the car sit most of the time, but there are lots of interesting places to drive to in the area and the cab fare to Cabo San Lucas was about $50.00 round trip, so if you want to go back and forth....get the car.
The rooms have wifi, but the signal doesn't reach all of them well due to the architecture. We had a third floor room with a balcony in Building 6 and the reception was great.
Some of the rooms don't have balconies, be sure to ask for one that does; it's a lot better!
Feel free to PM me for any questions at all.

To be fair, Plaza Sendero is a LONG ways away from the Hotel Zone of San Jose del Cabo (where the Holiday Inn is). In fact, it's not even in the same city. The shootings happened in the city of Cabo (where I probably wouldn't venture anyway, even if the hotel was located nearby). Google maps says it's over 21 miles apart.

Thanks for pointing that out to everyone. I have been going to Cabo for about eight years now and find it to be incredibly safe! We'll be there over Thanksgiving for the week... and I can't wait either! (We stay on Medano Beach, however :))

We're scheduled to be there over Thanksgiving and can't wait. The weather looks awesome too.

I have shopped at this strip mall for groceries several times when visiting Cabo. Even has some covered parking to keep the car out of the sun. Probably safer than the urban malls in the US. Also looking forward to a couple of weeks there beginning the day after Thanksgiving.

Arrived at the Holiday Inn on Friday. No issues at all checking in. Reception did not ask for the voucher or credit card. On a lighter note I was hit up for a timeshare presentation while I was walking through a local shopping mall. When I advised where I was staying, the timeshare offer was rescinded saying the Holiday Inn did not meet their rating requirements. :D

Has anyone checked in with 2 people when the reservation was booked for just one?

Checked in last night; no issues and no cc or voucher needed. We have a small(ish) room with balcony. WiFi works if near or on balcony. Food is pretty good. Staff is very friendly and consistently will speak Spanish if you are speaking Spanish (poorly) : ) There is a sewer smell coming from sink or shower, but this is normal from my travels in Latin America.

Just spent a wonderful week at the resort for about 9,000 AA miles.

Does anybody know if this is eligible for any Priority Club Reward/IHG points?

90 degrees temperatures under a sunny blue-sky overhead. Young bikini clad women lounging around the pool and beach all day. An all-can-eat buffet served three times daily. Open bars. Spa services.

Gee. I can't think of anything that might be keeping him preoccupied. :p

And if you're lucky, they can follow you at night.
