Looking for something for nice mid-range price dinner for two.

McMenamins Sand Trap is your best bet; otherwise Seaside is a bit of a ghetto and food is a big step down from Portland standards for the most part. Try the clam chowder. In case you don't know McMenamins is a small local chain of entertainment type restaurants, each distinctive but sharing some good food and management (plus a focus on fine beer and wine).

As someone that has family that lives in the area and a frequent visitor, I think most restaurants are kind of touristy-traps. I would venture down the coast to Canon Beach for a good meal or in the opposite direction to Astoria. All you will find in Seaside are taffy places, fast food, and the Pig n' Pancake. Skip it.

I agree. There is nothing special there. Dooger's and the Pig are OK, and there is a passable Japanese restaurant whose name I do not recall. I also have not really been impressed by the food in either Cannon Beach or Astoria, but it is a bit better than Seaside. If I were you, depending on weather and time of day, I would take a chance on a place with a view, and enjoy the sunset. Hopefully you can walk up to the Promenade from your lodging.
