Just wanted to check if anyone had any experiences trying to check into a Hilton with a rate obtained via an error on their website?

I think someone here decided not to show up and not cancel their $0 rate and got charged the rack rate of over $300. Of course Hilton had no record of the $0 rate. When you check the rate (online and over the phone) is it still the same price?

No- when I booked it, it was $9/night. Now, while still confirmed, it says $0/night Corporate rate.

Can you tell us which Hilton and which City?

The $0 rate is an astounding deal. It reminds me of the time I tore the leading "1" off the price tag on a fedora hat -- I got that hat for $09.99, and had enough biscuits left over for the conveyor belt home!

I think they should honor your $0 rate and put you in a room with no furniture, lights, or running water.

$0 rates need not be honored by a hotel, because there is no "consideration" that they receive. Any rate entered over $0 would include consideration, and they would be contractually obligated to honor the rate.

After all, when you book online and don't show up, they charge you a no-show fee, because you have entered into a "contract". It should work both ways.

There have been tons of arguments on whether or not the $0 rate is legally bindable on the hotel.

I had a $0 rate in SAN. Hiltons compromise offer was $0 for the 1st nite and $74 for the second. When I checked in, I checked in for only the one nite. It took much arguing at both check in and check out ( at 5AM http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ) but the Hilton did honor the $0 for the one nite

The interesting thing was that I booked it at a rate of $9/night but now it shows up as $0 /night.

I didnt post this question to debate the morality of taking advantage of errors.

What I was hoping to hear was the experiences of others who have tried to check in after securing an error rate.

Thanks.
