Hilton HHonors - Where to get a good deal on Scandic Hotels?

Need to book a Scandic Bergen (Norway) May 30 and Scandic Copenhagen June 4. Scandic now seem part of the Hilton group (?) but seems no ability on Hilton website to access prices? Checked Scandic website but predictably, prices are terrifying! (And Copenhagen *seems* to be not available but their site is a bit hard to follow.) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Does anyone know of a site or agent that might offer fairly decent deals on these Hotels? Like a Scandinavian "www.lastminute.com" etc or maybe thru SAS Airlines etc? Priceline does not seem to include/offer Scandinavia from what we can see?

Or can we use HH points to redeem a free night? No idea where to look TRHAT up. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

You can indeed use Hilton Hhonor points to redeem at the Scandic branded hotels, 10,000 per night I believe (this was the conversion rate for free nights in the Scandic Club program when they closed it last month).

Both dates you quote are midweek so the rates are likely to difficult to get discounts on without a corporate agreement.

SAS do have a discount (~30%) if you fly full fare, and this can include on free night in some cities. Tends to be with the SAS Radission hotels though.

To be honest 82GBP for Bergen is not bad and the Scandic Breakfast is included. Copenhagen will be expensive .. it's Denmark.

www.lastminute.se (http://www.lastminute.se) does excist http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Could you consider to stay outside of Copenhagen city Glen? Scandic Roskilde is listed at 800DKK for a doubel room. Roskilde is located 28K outside of Copenhagen and is suppose to be a beautiful city with alot of history.

If you would prefer to stay in downtown CPH, Scandic Hotel Webers is alot cheaper then Scandic Hotel Copenhagen.

tony simon - at 10,000 HH points a night I'd book them both in a heatbeat! My *guess* is they are more likely 30,000 or so in Copenhagen? Does anyone know they actual redemption rates using HH?

I had Scandic and/or Icelandair points from staying at hotels in Iceland when they were chain members. What happened to your Scandic points? I do not think I ever heard from them. Can you still use Icelandair points to redeem Scandic hotels anyone know?

Kempis, good suggestions, thanks. I was also so pleased to brush up on my fluent written Swedish sklls on that website. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Ozstamps, Radisson has some good rates for this summer at their hotels in Scandinavia. Helsinki with buffet breakfast for 89 Euros. The promo is called the Summer magic Promotion and is available from travelocity and the rad site.

The Scandic Club is closing so each 'free night' (earned from 10 paid nights) is being converted into 10,000 HHonors, which you'd assume was the redemption rate for the Scandic Branded hotels (Hilton consider them a lesser product .. big mistake IMHO).

A lot of the bigger/nicer Scandics are now Hilton branded (and costed) .. which is a shame as we could redeem free nights at any hotel in the past. Although the free night was only valid weekends and very limited weekdays.

The reason you are having problems finding the Scandic Copenhagen is it is now a Hilton Hotel, you have a choice of SH Webers downtown or moving out to the Suburbs with the Scandic brand (or using lots of cash/points at the Hilton).

I'm not sure that Radisson SAS Summer Magic rates are valid for OzStamps's dates. I did a dummy booking for the Falkoner in CPH for 4.6, but the rate was not available.

I have a reservation at the Summer Magic rate for the Hesperia in HEL later in the month, and I think the Summer Magic rates offer good value - run of house, but I've not had a problem yet.

OzStamps: great to see you posting again. I owe you personal thanks because of your advice on Priceline and elsewhere. You have saved me megabucks - or more likely, sent me on trips I would never have made otherwise. Thank you!

So the Sheraton Copenhagen which became the Scandic Copenhagen is now the Hilton Copenhagen.

Whatever next? And who will be the first to earn points in the three different programmes?

Roger - I think FLYERTALK has caused 1000s of us to go "on trips we would never have made otherwise". http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Thanks for checking that date. I went to the Scandic website an hour ago, tried to get a rate for Bergen, and it asked me to phone an operator to get it. (!!) Durrrrrrrrrrrr. Hopeless website sadly. IMO.

TonySymons - a new member who joins Hilton and updates profile 4 times a year has 10,000 HH points, so I bet Hilton ain't gonna let them book a Scandic Oslo etc due to that. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
