After today's news, I wouldn't mind Delta matching this from SAN. I might need to pick a new 'favorite' carrier.

With careful routing, this is a sweet deal. Too bad I'm booked for the year.

I did find a same day turn around on Oct 15th. from LAX -ATL

I can get it down to $147 in Feb - about 3.1cpm.

Sample same day:

Dec 10 ATL-IAD-LAX-IAD-ATL $161ai (5628mi ~2.8cpm) @ co.com

Seeing several same day turns via IAH (~4200 miles) mid-week (i.e. 11/16) and also as someone mentioned before, similar rates to DTW via IAH and IAD netting a solid 5200.

i found an itinerary (12/3) connecting through ORD on the way there and IAD on the way back. $156 / 5161 miles / 3cpm. There are also itineraries that go through IAD each way but it requires some tight connections

Advanced Routing IAD
Destination DTW
Select Calendar of lowest fares

Using the Second Browser switched city pairs but kept IAD in there

Piece together the itinerary from the one ways.

Have to leave no later than 7:51 IAD flight to make it a same day turn. Any flight to IAD after that will not allow a same day turn.

Fare still shows on UA ($59 o/w ++), but seems to be gone on CO.

Doh! As is becoming my tradition, I will be MRing on the weekend before the Super Bowl. 2011 was my first year doing the FF thing, and I spent the weekend before the SB MRing BOS-SEA twice.

Just booked three :eek: of these for that weekend. Nothing creative, just ATL-ORD-LAX and back twice, then ATL-IAH-LAX-ORD-ATL arriving in ATL monday morning. Not sure why I thought this was a good idea. Still have 24 hours to change my mind.

Amusingly, the two trips booked on CO.com are all UA metal, and the trip booked on .bomb is half CO metal (and cheaper, probably because ATL-IAH-LAX is a direct flight). 3.44cpm for almost 14k PQM :D

Now to take care of positioning to get from IAD to ATL and back. Wish there had been a return trip via IAD on the way back :) Might be able to SDC it when the time comes.

Aw, c'mon. Two days ago I did GUM-HNL-LAX-HNL-GUM all in one shot (24 hours flying in 36 hours) and I'm still alive. Fortunately, HNL-LAX-HNL was in F, though one was due to a judicious last second SDC to an earlier CO HNL-LAX. (btw, the new fare class priority UDUs on MP makes SDC very attractive.) (The above mentioned itin is part of a 35K double RT LAX-NRT. I'm in Kyoto at the moment.)

LAX-ATL is gone.

Potbelly (http://www.potbelly.com/Home/Default.aspx) is a fast-food sandwich chain. There's a location almost at the very end of C -- I think the location is officially listed as C2.

(I did manage to get the $159.30 all-in price for LAX-IAH-DTW-IAD-LAX on 10/8. Looks from this thread like I'll at least be on IAD-LAX with a few other FlyerTalkers.)

Nearly always, you will see these either blocked or there is a small number of people who block it themselves with a moving full "Y" fare. Likewise the three middle seats in the first row of Coach on the 767s, and I think maybe the same at the front of Business on the 767s. It's "the give". Saves United having to bump someone if a VIP books really late. So, call and ask -- though, in this case, it could be a "through" couple on the end of a long haul.
