Africa - Hilltop Resort in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi game reserve

Can someone tell me how long a drive it is from Durban North? What is the procedure when entering the reserve? How long a drive from gate to resort?
I am budgeting 3 hrs is that enough?

I haven't been in Hluhluwe in a while so I better not comment on the gate formalities as they may have changed.

As for your schedule, three hours is technically within the realm of the possible. Durban North to Hilltop is roughly 250 km, most of which is on highway N2. However, there is more than 50 km on R618 and smaller roads which can be considerably slower.

Realistically, I'd budget a minimum of 4 hours for the trip and even so try to have some flexibility in case of any mishaps.

The last time I checked, the gates are open until 7 pm during Summer (November 1 until February 28) and until 6 pm during Winter. Being a bit of a schedule neurotic, I'd try to leave Durban North around noon or shortly thereafter.

I am wondering if staying on N2 to Hluhluwe Village then using tarred road to Memorial gate is faster than using R618?
