Just checked into this hotel yesterday and it was big disappointment in terms of the service that I received.
Asked for an upgrade, high floor, non smoking and airport view at checkin and was told that i was given all the above before going up.
BINGO... when I open the door, I had none of the above. A call down to the front desk result in a very unhappy front desk clerk switching rooms for me.
Every time I had to fight to get an upgrade and this time it's no success. I don't see a difference of my room from a regular room.
I will definitely be writing to Hilton about this one.

I have just received a response to my complaint admitting their error and I got a very generous compensation from the hotel in terms of HHonours points.
Want to thank Adam for his help!

Will it help if I drop your name when I stay there on the night of the 15th, Empress? Thanks again for your help on the J-class availability for my flights.

Maybe you could say I recommended you to the hotel since the GM said in the email that they have just implemented a new training and service policy.
Please let me know how your stay there went!

This property offers shuttle service (free) between 6:00-23:00. We were actually picked up at 23:05 (domestic). Luggage was NOT offered to be taken to our room (late hour??). Check in was good (3 couples on the bus). Parking appeared to be free.
Free C. breakfast was not offered, but when I asked for a voucher, she said to just mention I was Gold at check out and the charges (for the two of us) would be eliminated. It happened as suggested. Breakfast stops at 10 to allow for lunch set up. We arrived at 9:40. Much of the C. breakfast items were gone or well picked over (not surprising). We had toast, coffee and cereal (had to ask for milk). 3 couples came in behind us for breakfast. The hotel seems to have comings and goings constantly.
Room was ok. 6th floor. TV is written up as to offer flight information, but it turns out they wrote that well before it will ever come. Surcharge for phone calls. No airport noise seemed to come in. AC or heat must be on or open window to shut it off. That would probably add greatly to the noise.
Lots of outside amenties. Tennis, pool, etc that we did not have time to take advantage of.
We were on our way home from Perth and spent the night before our final flight SYD to LAX.
We recommend this property for those who are not too fussy. It supplies everything that an overnight guest should need and more if you linger a few days. Points for the stay showed up quickly. Price reasonable.

Good to hear the points post quickly now. That was my major complaint about this property in the past. Three times there, three times we had to send the folio to HHonors. Overall, it is a decent airport hotel.

This hotel has a fantastic location if you are trying be close to the airport, and especially if you want to be near the international terminal. It is within line sight, almost within walking distance if you wanted a hike – not that you would want to venture out on the motorway across four lanes of traffic and a bridge to get there. Anyway, it is either a quick drive or ride from any of the terminals.
The hotel location is not particularly good if you need to be downtown Sydney for a meeting or even for sightseeing, as it is quite a distance away. Parking is gated, but free (you need to get a parking exit pass from the front desk each time you wish to leave, which is valid for 10 minutes).
This is a nice airport Hilton, with fairly standard, but clean rooms. I was welcomed as a diamond with a letter from the manager, a bag of chocolate-covered nuts, and given a “junior suite.” From reviewing the floor plan on the door it looked like a most regular-sized rooms are the standard rectangular shape, but mine had some extra space that made the room jet out – like an L. My room was behind the elevators and was not on the higher floors, so I assume that each floor likely had at least one room like this.
The view from one side of the hotel looks out towards the international terminal, across the road, in the distance. The other side looks out over a local neighborhood of houses (this is at the edge of a residential neighborhood, which you must drive through for a couple blocks in order to get to the hotel).
The rooms are nothing spectacular, but well-kept and clean. The bed was fairly comfortable and the wake-up calls were made by a human.
There is no executive lounge, but breakfast buffet was provided as the HHonors benefit (as diamond). There are no coupons, but you simply eat at the restaurant (across the lobby from reception) and charge your breakfast to the room, and it gets taken off at check out.
This was slightly confusing because they offer both a hot and cold buffet (although to me it appeared that all the items were mixed together), but it was not clear if all would be included at no charge or not. I discovered that yes, all were included for free (but this should have been made more clear at check in, particularly when you don’t have a coupon to tell you what is included and what is not).
I find this HHonors benefit troubling given that some hotels offer only “continental breakfast” and others provide a “full breakfast.” I think that Hilton really needs to determine a standard across all hotels (but that is an entirely different post).
The breakfast offerings were abundant, with many choices as well as Japanese selections.
There is a fitness facility on the hotel property, just outside the front door of the hotel, which you must walk outside to get to gain access to. It appeared to draw a small local crowd. I particularly noticed this given that many of the hotel’s front parking lot spaces were taken with cars that had different colored Hilton stickers in their window, which I did not receive as a guest so I assumed were taken by other “visitors.”
The facility has several lighted tennis courts, a decent-sized heated outdoor pool, a weight room, and two squash courts. Now if I only played squash…
The hotel bar, back from the lobby area, was locked up when we checked in around noon, but looked fairly lively by the evening hours.
Overall, I would say that this is a very nice airport Hilton and would not hesitate to stay there again for business or pleasure. I would likely prefer the downtown SYD Hilton when it is finally re-opened simply for better access to the city. However, this was a pleasure trip so found it nice to retreat back to the quietness of the hotel after a day in the city.

I used this hotel last week as a place to stage prior to an early morning international departure. Not only did it work well for that, but I got a nice upgrade for being Gold. The staff are very polite. Although this hotel is used a great deal, my room was fresh and clean. The bedside table lamps are of a good design that makes it possible to read in bed and also swing them out of the way. However the shampoo was a cheap type. Started my flights with bad hair.

Well, sounds like the SYD airport hilton have upped their game since a few years ago when they were the cause of many complaints in here. Certainly when they "lost" my reservation when I showed up it didn't get me off on a good foot with them. If I didn't have my printed confirmation with me I wonder if they'd have actually given me a room....

Well lets face it, what airport hotel anywhere in the world is located next to the CBD? You want meetings in the CBD I guess you book in the CBD. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
HOWEVER, having said that I can drive you from the Airport SYD Hilton to downtown in 10-15 minutes as it is only a few miles away - try doing that in IAD or DEN. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I have news for you about the parking. The exit boom gate has not worked for at least 2 years. Therefore you do NOT need a ticket of any kind, anytime. As of a month back this was still the case anyway.
The rooms that look toward the It'l airport have a golf course between you and them, and I have found that vista from the balcony very pleasant, watching golfers and planes taking off and landing whilst sipping bubbly. A far more pleasnat vista than ANY American airport Hotel I have booked. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

They must have fixed the gate, because it was working fine at blocking my exits just over a week ago.
I also agree with your comments about being fairly close to the city center -- yet, I found traffic to be a large pain in the rear in trying to get from the airport to the city and back.
I also concur with your assessment of the view. I can say that it is a pleasant one for being an "airport" hotel. No drab industrial sites to look at from your windows. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for update of car park. I am driving to airport tomorrow for a couple days away and hoped this had not been rectified yet. Coff. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Just wondering - how long did it take for your points to post to HH? It's been a wk since I've stayed there and points not posted yet. My HH and FF numbers are correct on the bill so I am not too concerned.
