OK... so I will spend one night only at KCI, will sleep at the Four Points by the airport. My only Gig in town will be a Wine Dinner Im hosting at JJ's Restaurant (910W 48th Street)... so I dont know if its worth it for me to even bother with a rental car.

My questions would be....

a) is there a shuttle between KCI and the Four Points

b) any idea what a cab will cost from the airport area to where JJ's is located...? Also, how long is this drive approx..??

c) how remote a location is the rental car center from the KCI airport and how time consuming is this...? I would probably rent from Hertz and I have no status with them

Thanks !!!

Their web site does show that 4 points has a 24 hour shuttle.

You have to take a short bus ride to the rental car counters. (Maybe not so short if you come in at terminal A because you will then loop through B and C, but still not too bad, but of course you will probably have some wait time on top of that)

I haven't taken a cab from MCI for awhile, but I'm thinking that it's going to be close to $50 each way, with tip. Drive time to JJ's should be about 30 minutes, barring traffic or weather.

Note that one of the great things about MCI is that all of the ticket counters and security are literally only about 10-20 yards from the roadway (assuming that you get dropped off at the right place) and then it's only another 10-15 yards to the gate once you clear security.

Pls note that the 4 points shuttle is on demand... if you dont call them, they dont come to KCI.

I would get a rental car. The airport is a long way out from anything and cabs will be expensive.

Definitely rent a car instead of depending on taxis. MCI is a good long way from anything, especially Kansas City. A 24-hour car rental will be cheaper than two one-way taxis.

The ride from the terminals to the car rental center takes 6-10 minutes. It's a little more inconvenient since they went to a common facility, but far from the worst arrangement in the country... for that you can look at DFW, BWI, PHX... etc.

+1 on the rental car.

Alternatively - stay somewhere on/near the Plaza (near JJ's). Sheraton Suites? Then you can use the Supershuttle for about $20 each way to/from the airport and not worry about the car.

You didn't mention the date of your travel, so maybe my reply here is too late, but FWIW, I would NOT rent a car for the day.
MCI is the most expensive airport in the country, in terms of added fees onto rental cars.
The shared rental vans from MCI to the Plaza (which is where JJ's is located) are handy and you can save by booking a roundtrip on either Super Shuttle or on Quicksilver.
