I live in Australia but I'm in Thailand for a wedding next March, decided to fly Egyptair return from there to Istanbul to go and visit some family.
I booked a Y ticket, but decided a little while afterwards that I would pay the extra and upgrade to J once I noticed it's the 777-300ER running between BKK-CAI now...but this has turned into a bit of a saga!
Apparently they don't have a facility to take any additional payments over the phone or internet - ok fine I can understand that they're not set up for customers from Australia. Admittedly they do have an office in Sydney, but I live in Perth so that's not much use to me - however I called the guy over there and he said he still couldn't help me.
Anyway, when I contacted them back in June they quoted me a price I was happy with and they changed my reservation - which just needed to be paid in full to re-issue the tickets. As I was in Bangkok last month I said I would visit the office there. As it turned out due to traffic and difficulty finding the office I got there just after they closed.
I got the contact details for the district manager in Bangkok who, after explaining my situation, simply said that he would welcome me back to their office anytime. Great.
So I've contacted their web support again to say that I will be in Dubai this November, can I still pay the agreed price (I have this in writing and in my reservation notes) and they simply said 'come into an office asap because fares change all the time'. Now I know the fare has already gone up since I changed it - I was happy to pay at the time of upgrade but they obviously couldn't help me...
It appears from my conversations with them that the whole thing appears lost in translation...has anyone got any ideas as to whom I can contact that might be able to help me out? It seems their standard web support isn't much use in my siutuation...Even the guy in Sydney was a little confused as to what I was after :-(
