This is the Salute to Heros rate available to anyone, listed under their special rates/packages. Cancel by 3PM 24hrs prior to arrival. Date I chose was Fri nite 10/28. Rate subject to availability till end of year.

My booking info for this rate had a description that said rate was for active military, but nothing in there saying requiring proof of that and the rate description doesn't say that as you can see(states any military/public officers either active or retired). So I hope there is no suprises upon check-in. Or I suppose I could just call them about it. The actual offer code is HERO.

Where does it say 'active military'?

Great rate! Seems only valid on some weekends however.

That's weird because you'd think it was valid given how Hyatt defines "Eligible Rates".

What about stay credit? Would the stay count for 5K for 3 night promotion?

No points accrual or stay credit because as antonius66 found out, not a "publicly available rate". Don't understand- if you can find it on their website why it isn't eligible. It's not worded very clear in that case.:confused:

No problem checking in, but got a hassle on checkout, was told the "Hero" rate is for active military only and was charged 117.50 on a 59.50 reservation. I didn't argue at that point. I better earn a stay and points for the eventual rate I was charged.

If you stay at least 3 nights, there's a sale rate that is as low as 69.30/nt+tax for this property.

That was the basis for the rate adjustment at checkout.

Used this rate twice in August with no issues. Found it on the Woodfield Hyatt website and the T&C's say nothing that would exclude any member of the public.

After emailing my folios to CS, I was granted stay credit and GP points on one stay and SWA miles on another.

Also Diamond amenity and breakfast vouchers (better than average Hyatt buffet). If you can't make the buffet - either leaving too early or sleep too late - then your buffet voucher is good for $15 worth of items at the coffee cart during your stay which is a nice option.

Note: Also, during August I made a priceline bid blind reservation and got Hyatt Woodfield for $55 + tax. This Hero rate was $49.50. Priceline investigated, concluded this was a public rate and gave me the price difference plus $25. This hotel did not give diamond amenity or breakfast for a priceline blind bid stay.

I agree 100% with your comments. I interpret it the same way..as a salute...because that is what it says. I believe you should get stay credits/points as well. I was simply reporting what I was told by GP Concierge on here.

Frankly, it doesn't matter how the customer interprets the wording.
It still comes down to whatever Hyatt Goldpassport decides. YMMV.

Well I was thinking of cancelling my rez for the Fri nite during the Oct seminars, but now I might chance it for 50$ and stay credit/progress towards the 5k PTs(whoopee:rolleyes:) but if I do cancel it just leaves me more for "adult beverages" during the evenings of the seminars.. What a dilema!:p

If you let them do this to you you are absolutely nuts. If any hotel ever tried to raise my rate on checkout that they allowed at checkin I would never allow it. Especially on a rate like this that actually says nothing about 'active military' in the terms.

I had no problems with this rate over the weekend. I earned miles, Diamond Amenity points and stay credit. I have a couple of more reservations pending using the same promo code. As always YMMV.
