Yes it's new. Seasonal until the end of November; utilizing an aircraft that had some downtime.

I flew WS1914 YXS-LAS on Wednesday the 28th of September. Had to board the plane the old fashioned way.

As in using stairs from the ramp up to the cabin? YXS is a small airport and doesn't have bridges! Other small airports are the same, such as Comox, Kamloops, etc.

Really? I didn't know that. They dooesn't have jetbridge at all? Only you can go on airstairs to get inside the aircraft. What about US pre-clearance in YXS? I wasn't sure if they have it.

This website (http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/preclear_locations.xml) lists them, as well the US pre-clearance facilities in other countries. Still surprises me they don't have it at LHR.

Hey...Thanks! That was very helpful for me. I'll try to read the website next time.

The pre-clearance in Victoria is for cruises/ferries. It's not at the airport.

Ah! I didn't even know that. You found out? How? I wasn't sure if YYJ who does have pre-clearance or not.
Just saw what could have been a WS informercial, but was actually a news story on the local TV news tonight at 11, regarding the first flight of the new YXU-LAS service. The local staff decorated the check-in area with Las Vegas stuff, had some fake poker tables set up, and had an Elvis impersonator, and gave the passengers LAS gift bags. Seemed to be a pretty good celebration going on, considering it's a twice weekly flight.

YYJ doesn't have pre-clearance, so WS flights from YYJ (and other non-preclearance locations) land at T2 at LAS.
There is immigration pre-clearance downtown Victoria for the Blackball MV Coho ferry, but customs is still done in Port Angeles
