Dividend Miles Dining (http://usairways.rewardsnetwork.com/)

Let's list here the restaurants with

cheap food
delivery
credit card payment

That's was last year an easy hit which could be done from home without being involved. I remember that I had some deliveries from Baluchis (or something like that) in New York to the shelters.

Cannot find the restaurant chain anymore this year

Just one qualified purchase does it? Or do you need to do the two separate meals for $25 to get the 1000 miles?

Thanks in advance!

It is two. For one , you get 500 miles. You also have to do a review of the restaurant.

I enrolled in dividend dining. Paid $39 for meal at restaurant yesterday. Will do review and then one more dine for $25 or more and review for 1000 miles

1000 miles bonus is for new enrollee only

Phone: (212) 564-7887
Additional Instructions: A donation to the Dwelling Place. Sponsored by ..............

There is a location that has a minimum of $5 to order - but I dont know if it will work and where is a location to sent to.

why do you write such a nonsense? does burger king deliver? did you write the address/link to the restaurant? you'd better write nothing at all
Perhaps you should review, reword, and clarify your first post and enhance the thread title. Your question isn't immediately clear.

The thread title is broad, but the first post is really only concerned with how to get a cheap hit without actually showing up in person at the restaurant.

kvs25 listed a collection of restaurants which are cheap without understanding that your question is about which restaurants satisfy all three of your bullet points.

I am quite certain that the third bullet point is satisfied by all DM Dining restaurants. It sounds as if you really mean to ask about which ones accept foreign credit cards.

I used Dividend Miles mall to link to go to restaurant.com, then purchased the cheapest gift certificate they had ($10) for a local restaurant that is on the Dividend Miles Dining program. With the current code "NEW", it only cost me $2.50 (but that's 27 miles at 11 miles/dollar).

I have to spend a minimum of $20 at this little burger/sports bar joint (so I'm looking at a minimum of $12.50 out of pocket + tip), but I'll use my linked Dividend Miles Dining credit card to pay for the difference between the gift cert and minimum spend + the tip.

Unless I'm missing something, I think that I just "doubled into the left-center field gap" - 1 hit for Dividend Miles dining (once I go) + 1 hit for Dividend Miles mall purchase, right?

You could have quadrupled by paying for the restaurant.com purchase and the restaurant purchase with any two of the five hit options for payment methods :)

Wish I could, but I don't have US Air credit card.

Just opened acct at B of A today to get the debit card, so I'll be able to get only 1 hit out of the 5 card options (but at least I'll get the 3,000 mile bonus that comes with 1st debit card transaction!).

"Hi,

There have been a number of these strange orders going through today and someone needs to call me and let me know what is going on, as the restaurant is getting concerned about the orders and all the different credit cards. You can still remain anonymous to the shelter, but we need to be assured the restaurant is not going to find out later that the credit cards were lost or stolen. Please call me ASAP at xxx-xxx-xxxx.

Customer Service.

Wow, I wonder how many orders they're getting. I hope you did call back and explain.

I suppose they're worried that some "Robin Hood" has stolen a bunch of credit cards and is using them for homeless donations, and they'd be stuck for the bad charges.

People also might consider spacing out the orders, rather than doing them all in the first or last few days of the promotion.

Finally, if there actually is a decent DM Dining restaurant in your area, you can just go there -- that's what I'm doing.

This is my first Grand Slam and I'm just curious - how did FTers pick this charity, and did they / Sister Nancy actually seem grateful for the food that showed up? I told my husband about this idea since we don't have any good dining options near us, and he made the point that it might be a rather awkward thing for a charity to get 1 single meal and then have to decide who to give it to... Not hating on the idea - it's brilliant - but just curious how the charity feels about it.

Perhaps the charity and the restaurant will work together so that the orders are batched together for less frequent but larger deliveries.

I just did a search for Balushis and it's no longer listed. I also tried looking by address and no go. Am I missing something or did RN drop it quickly?

BTW, I think this is a brilliant idea as long as people send over things that can be practical (like the drinks). I also hope the restaurant and the shelter work together so maybe all orders come in at the same time. I do hope the restaurant actually does fill the orders and not just pocket the money.

I do have dining establishments nearby, but one is an AWFUL KFC (if you want good fried chicken don't go to Laguna Beach). I also have another one as well that I like but I get tired of it. Plus this is easy.

Is there an automated match based on the credit card you have used for the order?

You have to use the credit card(s) you registered with DM Dining, and behind the scenes when the charge goes from the restaurant to their credit card processor, DM Dining will match up the transaction.

Thanks. I didn't have the strength to search last night. I was doing it the lazy way. I tried restaurant name and address. Neither worked.

If anyone is looking at another option, you might try using a pizza place and have the order sent over to the local Fire Department "with compliments for a job well done." This is not as easy as what people are doing here, but it is another good idea. Just find a pizza place that delivers. You may need a US card for this and may need to make a phone call.

I may do a few of these for the UA promo as well. This is true thinking outside the box and I applaud you all for it. Worthy cause + miles = great.

There's no minimum to count as a hit for Grand Slam, but DM Dining has its own bonus promotions running as well that might require a minimum spend to hit that are completely independent of Grand Slam.

There's no minimum to count as a hit for Grand SlamCorrect. Last year I walked 2 blocks to a nearby participating restaurant & had a Coke at the bar. Got a small amountt of miles & the resulting GS hit.

I just signed up for Dividend Dining and it seems that it is the same program as the Rapid Rewards dining with the same restaurants. I signed up with the same credit card that I used for RR dining, how is that going to effect my earning? Will I earn both DM and RR points for a dine? Or neither?

I just received my US credit card. Think I may just register that and remove the RR credit card from my Dividend Dining card.

No double dipping. The points should register with your DM account because as I understand the mechanism, when you register a card previously registered with another program in a new program, the new registration takes hold and your previous registration is canceled. Which means that if you do remove this card after registering your US card, you'll want to register the first card again with RR just to be sure you're still getting dining credits in RR.

You could try Taco Delmar in Langley, BC in Canada. They are part of the US Airways Dining Reward Network. I did call The Franchisee up and he seems open to do food delivery (perhaps to some shelter or charity). I was going to get a dining hit through him but I visited another restaurant on the network recently so wouldn't need a hit from him at this point but may use them for a small catering later.

If there are enough FT'ers interested to place the order, I would imagine he could collect all the orders and deliver them in one go. We get the miles, he makes the money and the homeless/needy can enjoy free food as well. Win win for all. For those interested, you can try calling him at (604) 773-1083/email- psnair_2000 At Yahoo Dot Com . I believe Coke starts at $1.50-2

On the DM Dining website, my first meal was on 9/21 and says 106 miles paid on 9/27. It actually posted to US on 9/30 with an activity date of 9/21.

I had another meal on 9/25 that still says "Pending" on the DM Dining site, so I have not gotten my miles yet for that. Both dines were above $25, so I'm expecting to get my 500 bonus miles for each of those, too.

Here's a question.

Going to NYC this week, zip 11370. Want to get my DM Miles hit, as there's really no where to get one where I'm at in the mountains. What if you order delivery from a place that is a part of DM Dining but they go through a third party delivery site? Will it show as a DM Dining purchase, thus get a hit, or will the charge go through the engine and thus not show up (and thus no hit)??

Two Boots Hell's Kitchen deliver to The Dwelling Place of NY and take credit cards for online orders.

Don't use third party credit card processors. I had a foul ball last year with some online restaurant which uses one of these. In order to credit the hit, the charge has to come direct from the restaurant to the registered credit card.

Baluchi's is no longer doing online or phone orders unless you can sign for it. They were my hit last year but wouldn't do it this year as they said they were getting too many chargebacks. I finally found a small takeaway near my Mom's house that would do a delivery credit card order over the phone. It cost a bit more but my Mom got 2 lunches courtesy of me and my husband.

This would be a good chance for a FTer who lives near a restaurant that will take credit card orders over the phone to get some free meals if anyone wants to organize it.

We don't have any participating restaurants in our area so we, too, were looking for a delivery option. We ended up having Jason's Deli deliver a tray of cookies and brownies to the front office of the assisted living place of my wife's great aunt (her grandmother also lived there before she passed away). They certainly deserve it for the job they do. So, that's another type of option for people looking for a delivery (I liked the fire station idea as well!).

Oh man, didn't even think about that. Shucks.... I'm sure there's a lot of other delivery places in Denver but many are going to ask for a zip I bet.

For people out of the US or Canada who want an i-dine hit, here's what you can do. Find another FTer who lives near a participating restaurant, then give them access to your idine account (user ID and password). There is no security issue here as nothing accumulates in your account (all miles are transferred to the airline) and only the last 4 digits of your credit card are visible. The other person can go into your account, register their credit card, then make a purchase at a participating restaurant with the registered card. After the dine has posted, they can go in and delete the credit card. (It is important not to delete the card before the dine has posted!)

I have done this numerous times for friends to help them get their VIP status. I used to have a Lick's Burgers near me where I could buy a coke for $1.29, so would quickly rack up the number of dines they needed to get the status, then I would delete my credit card from their account. Unfortunately, there are no longer any participating restaurants near me, so I won't be volunteering my services. Sorry.

There is no place with delivery near me.
There are plenty of member establishments though, including one that I go all the time.
Can I simply go there, pay with the Credit Card, and wait to post?
Or do you need to tell the waitress?

Oct 4, 11, 5:13 pm
Simply have dinner and pay with your registered card. If you tell the server, he/she will probably have a blank stare, as he/she'll have no idea what you're talking about! ;)

That's the beauty of i-dine. No special cards or anything. When I'd take my customers out for dinner, I always chose i-dine restaurants and they had no idea that we were there so I could earn points!

So what's the cheapest hit I can get for doing this online? I have a US issued CC but I'm halfway around the world and never done this iDine thing online.

So I'm looking at Two Boots Hell's Kitchen. I just have to register my card, and then place the order online through the Two Boot's website?

Seems like a salad for $4.5 + $9 seems not to bad for a hit?

I'm not sure how the process works but apparently Two Boots uses this "Seamless" like a Paypal type processor. Since Seamless isn't a DM Dining partner, you won't get credit. Apparently if you go there in person, they swipe your credit card and it charges as Two Boots otherwise they couldn't be part of the program.

If anyone is in midtown Manhattan, I found a cheap hit and a good quick lunch.

Fat Sal's Pizza on 9th ave between 38th and 39th. 2 big slices of pepperoni and a drink was $8. You could do it cheaper as they have a lunch special... 2 slices of cheese and a fountain drink for $5.50. Little joint with about 10 seats. They do deliver but they use a third party for online.

The problem from the restaurant's point of view is that if they don't get a signature, they're SOL if for any reason the charge gets disputed -- they have to eat the charge, plus the chargeback fee, plus too many chargebacks can cause their base discount rate to go up.

It could be someone just trying to do an airline promotion... or it could be someone seeing if their stolen card works, or a "Robin Hood" type who thinks he's sticking it to the banks by running up a bunch of deliveries to homeless shelters (but the restaurants will actually be stuck with it).

Registered my card and my husband's on dividend miles dining. Drove a half hour to the closest restaurant listed in our area planning on buying a bottle of wine on one card and the meal on another. Turns out the place closed down back in March so I ended up eating out anyhow somewhere else which cost me $100 (at least it was on my usair card) but I can't figure out any way to get these hits. If there is anyone with a place near them that is willing to make a purhase for me on both accounts (or even one) or can point me to a place I can do it online I would be most appreciative. Thought I was all set with the indian place I ordered and was having sent to the mission but that was cancelled. I am so frustrated :(

We live out in the boonies with no place to rent a car- I am renting one for January for our trip but that won't help me now. Not enough hotel points to transfer. Looks like the Vinesse and Wine Insider won't work without a subscription I am deflated. I really wanted to surprise hubby with tickets to Europe this summer- I should have bought them when they were doubling the miles.

How does the program distinguish when you go to dinner and use a certain credit card? Do you get to pick which program you want to write a review for (and thus claim the points for)? Or should I, to be on the safe side, "de-register" one of my credit cards on Delta's Skymiles Dining for the time being?

Thanks!

You can't use the same credit card number in 2 accounts. Normally when you register a credit card, it automatically deletes it from any other account where you've registered it. Deleting your entire account is new to me! The only explanation I can think of is, did you have any other credit cards registered in your account? You MUST have one credit card in your account at all times. (You can even use a cancelled credit card number as a place holder.) I thought that if you didn't have a second cc, the system would not allow you to move the first cc number to a different account.

It depends on if your bank is set up to show you or not. Not all of my banks show pending charges properly. Basically if you placed your order before they pulled the donation I suspect it will go through.

Heads up: Be careful if you have assigned a Discover credit card to your Dividend Miles Dining account. Instead of posting a transaction to Dividend Miles Dining, the transaction amount was reduced due to a promotion at Discover. The same thing again this year.

This shouldn't affect most people unless you have mutliple family members that looking for hits.

Let's list here the restaurants with

cheap food

credit card payment

That's was last year an easy hit which could be done from home without being involved. I remember that I had some deliveries from Baluchis (or something like that) in New York to the shelters.

Cannot find the restaurant chain anymore this year

Try searching for restaurants near College Park, Georgia (where ATL airport is). I have found the search feature is not great, but when I searched that way, all the airport stuff came up. Or try 30349 (College Park zip code). This was about a week ago, so unless it has changed since then, this should work.

Not sure if anyone posted this already, but I did a purchase after I signed up for me and MRS credit card, one was a MasterCard and the other happens to be a Amex, now I went into a nearby Location who said they accept AMEX, and bought a soda for a couple of bucks on each card. Did this this year and last year, and Both times only the MasterCard purchase (mine) hit my DM acct! Mrs moebod got nothing. I finally figured out (well I called the dining program...) that even though a restaurant may actually accept Amex (or any card) They DO NOT NECESSARILY accept it as a reward "participating" card. The only way to know fore sure that it will accumulate DM miles, is iff it is listed with the rewards networks website (when you click on the restaurant for more info like hours etc) if it shows AMEX (or whatever you are using) then you are good to go. I think this is very important and may be looked over by other FTers as well....

Just a data point,

I ordered the $1 donation at Z PIZZA columbus on 24th Oct and it showed up as pending charge immediately. This charge has now shown up as finalised as at 26th Oct. So still working, just might take a few days.

However, no transaction on the DM Dining rewards account yet. How long does it typically take between credit card being charged (finalised) and transaction/miles showing up?

True. But then again if you advertise that your business is making a donation to St Jude's (http://www.zpizza.com/) on your homepage then not processing donation only payments would be a bit of an own goal.

DM Dining is separate from the credit card statement. The dining goes through the rewards network. You will receive an e-mail 4-6 days after you have dined asking you to review the restaurant. The miles will be deposited a few days after that.

A review is not a requirement for GS credit, but it appears that reviews are occasionally made a requirement for bonus promotions. I just received an email today from the DM dining program about the "Sweeten the Deal" promotion: an extra 3 miles per dollar for dines through the end of the year with a limit of $125 in restaurant spend. The T&Cs of the promotion specifically require a review.

As I mentioned above, restaurants are wary of charges where the card holder doesn't sign the slip. If the charge is disputed, they have essentially zero recourse and are stuck with the bill and the chargeback fee.

I remember some people placed an order at the Columbus Z-pizza and had it delivered to the firehouse nearby. That should be relatively inexpensive and a good cause to boot.

or you can order order from our friendly Zpizza Columbus location a coke for pick-up...I missed the plane to pick-up in time ;)

An easy way to get a dining hit is to find a restaurant near a friend or relative and order a gift card over the phone and have it sent to them (say for $10 or so). That way you get your hit and you make someone happy.

I posted something very similar (somewhere) recently. It's works like a charm.

As I mentioned above, restaurants are wary of charges where the card holder doesn't sign the slip. If the charge is disputed, they have essentially zero recourse and are stuck with the bill and the chargeback fee.

Sure but if you order something for pickup from zpizza and they have had to make it would think there is a decent chance they will charge you for it anyway (or give it a go).

Looks like we might need to actually deliver a pizza to the hospital or fire station next door...

I just had a pizza delivered to the Fire Station 1 in Columbus with the note "A donation to the firefighters of Columbus for their amazing work."

Let see if this one turns into a correct charge and hit.

Hey did you get this Hit?

I was planning to order a pizza for Firestation, but I was already told "the delviery address can't be found".

Is this address "300 N. Fourth Street, Columbus, OH, 43215"
correct? What is their phone number?

The min charge is USD 15, right?

So just to clarify - they have hit your Dining account but not the DM account (yet)?

Yes that's right. I am expecting them to post to the DM accounts I manage this Friday.

Mine did actually post to DM a few hours after I posted (ie later on Friday last).

We "dined" on 25 October.

Don't suggest you get a zpizza delivery (Columbus). This hit my DNDining rewards today but with zero points, tried to do a review and this is what I got! Actually I vistied on 31/10 but obviously they didn't put the entry through for a couple of days.

The one I had on the 28th worked fine but the ones on 31st and later no luck, possibly because they withdrew from the Dining Rewards about then.

They are still listed on: http://usairways.rewardsnetwork.com/search.htm?q=Columbus,%20OH&e=z%20pizza . Perhaps you might have some luck contacting the dining program and get them to honour you the miles.

I am late to this game. Anyone else have problems signing up for DM dining? It doesn't accept my DM number and won't let me create an account. Anyone have any ideas?

If you happen to try to enroll a CC that is already enrolled in another dining program, it'll give a very generic "registration failed" message. You may not even realize the card is registered; many of the airline branded CCs automatically enroll you in that airline's version of dining rewards.

In Firefox, the problem is that on the second enrollment page I can't even see where to enter the DM number. When I go to enroll without it, it says "Please enter your Dividend Miles Dining Number."

When using Chrome, the problem is that a box shows up only after I hit enroll and gives the error. When I put the number into the box, it says "The Dividend Miles Dining Number you entered is invalid. Please try again."

It is not a Visa issue, as I have put a no fee no gimmicks Visa card in.

I experienced the same problems yesterday on IE. Didn't try today. I know this credit card is not being used on another dining account.

Best to call RewardsNetwork. It manages all the "XX Dining" programs. The CSR will have you sorted more quickly than you can do it yourself.

It seems that the activity date is the date of the dine, not the date that it gets entered into Reward Network's systems, right? Since the end of the promo is coming, I was planning on dining at a participating restaurant this Friday, and I just wanted to make sure the activity date would be listed as Friday to ensure I get the hit. Can anyone confirm? Thanks!
