Make sure that you use this way, as there are a couple other sites with similar names, where you can redeem your miles for magazines that are not eligible for a hit, plus a couple that you earn miles for subscriptions (also not eligible)!! :cool:

The actual Magazines For Miles' site, magsformiles.com, is eligible for a hit. It's confusing to have two sites that work, granted, but magsformiles.com does count as well.

I'm keeping my confirmation email just in case.

I had an error message come up when trying to complete my order. I got the same message when attempting a second time. After deciding to wait to try again later, I noticed that the miles deducted from my account twice.

Hopefully this is able to be resolved through my message to customer service. Anybody have any additional tips to fix this?

I signed onto my DM account, went to Use Miles, clicked on Magaizines, and it took me to www.mybonuscenter.com where I entered my DM account number, email address, and zip code. I then ordered Sunset. In fact, I apparently, accidentally, ordered two subsciptions! Not the end of the world, but I don't suppose there's a way to cancel one of them?

I did it this morning and had no problems at all. I thought about being super cheap and just getting one of the 400 mile subscriptions, but then found a golf magazine for 600 and decided it was worth 200 extra miles for something I'd actually look at!

Just used 400 miles for sunset magazines, they already took miles out of my account.

It's worth remembering that either site gets the hit, from everything we've seen. No worries on that front. As to whether the issues ever find the foot of our doorsteps, good luck. But miles should hit either way as last year.

Both did last year, and the same service runs both sites (see sites' fine print). Also, Magazines For Miles is listed by name on GS rules, and they're at magsformiles.com. Mybonuscenter.com, meanwhile, is the only magazine redemption partner (that subtracts miles) on US Airways' referral links. Maybe an email to US Airways for quick clarification would be helpful and good? No?

I ordered directly from magsformiles.com, without going to the US site. The confirmation email is from orders@mybonuscenter.com however.

It seems like both will probably work, although who knows. To be honest I may sign up for another mag for 500 miles, some of the selection isn't that bad really.

I went for a 1,000 mile mag. Not exactly consistent with the spirit of the promo and miles maximization, but it's something we actually read and like, and we signed up last year for the same mag so our subscription is up. It just makes me feel a little better about that silly crystal birthday cake or whatever I got from 1800flowers to get something out of my hits that I'll use.

Checked my DM balance yesterday, and there were 2 separate 800 mile deductions, both from Mags for Miles.

Here's where it gets fun:
I called US Air customer service, and they said I had to talk to Mags for Miles.
I called Mags for Miles and they only show 1 800 mile transaction.
I was told by Mags for Miles rep I have to wait 5-10 days for Mags for Miles to look into it.

Check your DM balance to be sure you don't get double charged. Once I am given an adequate response/explanation, I will report back.

I would argue that, if you were going to buy the magazine anyway, the 1,000 miles should not count against your cost, except if you value the miles more highly than you do the $ you would have spent on the magazine, in which case the difference should count against your cost. If the difference is negative, you can subtract it from your cost.

That's my view as well. In this case there was nothing I wanted so the smallest mileage requirement was the goal. In lkar's case I'd agree that it's a free hit.

Canadian here.... Cannot get pass main page due to zip code not matching the postal code in my profile. I tend to order magazines using an US address then change it to my Canadian address after some time.

Does this mean, for this particular site, I have to change my address with DM to an American address... order the magazine, wait for the hit to come, then change it back to my regular Canadian address? Or is there another way round this?

Just did the Magazine for Miles redemption for a hit for my wife and I.

I made sure I logged out of my account and logged into her's to make the redemption.

And we each have a 500 mile subtraction in each of our US Airways account. For some reason though, when I got the confirmation e-mail from mybonuscenter.com - both orders had my name as the billing and shipping address.

I am pretty sure I put her name in for her order - I am hoping this doesn't mess up her hit. I'm thinking as long as the deduction in miles is in her account I should be alright. Any thoughts?

You won’t know this for weeks and weeks, until you get a postcard (maybe) IN THE MAIL telling you your selection is ‘unavailable’. You won’t get your points back. You will have to order another title, and hope it is ‘in stock’. By this time, the Grand Slam will be over. E-mails to this organization are fruitless and you are wasting your time. Good luck with these guys!

I'm going to try one more phone call to DM and to them. If that doesn't work, they'll both be getting a nice letter on my law firm's letterhead (gotta include US Air, because, in initial calls, they both blamed the other -- US Air claimed they have no power to do anything; magazine people claimed "we only see one deduction.")

While I was too cheap to plunk down the high filing fee on the AA 83000 mile fiasco, this is the type of situation where I would consider filing a small claims action. At this point, it's not the 800 miles; it's the principle.

I placed an order for Sunset on the Sep14 and my miles were deducted immediately. However since their email said order was being processed and several FTers pointed out the shady practices of this company from last I was uneasy and called them yesterday to be informed that the my order had in fact been rejected since their quota for Sunset was over, and my miles would (hopefully) be refunded. :mad:

I'm not sure if this would count as a hit and "purchased" another mag.
All those who requested Sunset might want to follow up to check on the status of their orders.

I'm not counting on a hit at all since the activity wording changed from magazines for miles to online redemption. How would US even know what that meant? we'll see soon enough.

I called their CS number at 1-800-250-3525. I hit the #2 prompt and the electronic menu kept asked me questions where I had to speak the answers. When they couldn't get a single thing I was saying I was transferred over to a CSR. The wait wasn't long, maybe 3 minutes.

It was working last week.

As another poster reported; all subsequent mailconfirmations came with the first persons name, adress and to that ones mailadress- when several family members did their orders from same computer. Despite logging out and then in, and making sure US DM was on landing page + on confirmation page.

All miles are deducted but this is hillarious:D:td:

Well I placed another order for a magazine, just in case and sent an email to points.com to cancel the newspaper transaction. Lets see if they will cancel it or not.

Known problem, widely reported here & in Other Partners. Probably just their system overwhelmed by GS activity. Best advice is to keep trying. (I've now added a note to the Other Partners post #1 on this issue.)

Why do you say this? I ordered magazines in September 2011 through the link supplied on the US Airways web site where the Dividend Miles account address does not match the delivery address of the magazine subscription. I've received a processing confirmation email from Orders@mybonuscenter.com and the transaction has posted to the Dividend Miles account, although delivery of the magazine has not yet started.

To clarify, while the DM account and magazine delivery addresses were different, both are in the US.

I would order with a Swiss address in DM and a US delivery address but the system would not accept it. I then changed my DM to US and my delivery to US and order was accepted.

The first time I ordered the magazine, it was "out of stock".

Then, I ordered again on 1-Oct and have yet to receive any confirmation hit up to now, except for the email notifying me that "order is currently being processed".

I'm getting a bit worried because I did this and searched by our DM numbers. My subscription to Lucky is showing as pending but I can't find my husband's subscription to Heath. A search on his DM number only reveals last year's Rachel Ray subscription (which my Mom has been enjoying, pity it's not still there).

As i suspected, the only problem is when one of the two addresses is outside the US. There is no need for the addresses or names to match if both the DM address and the subscription address are within the US. Didn't have a problem to forward a subscription to a different zip code/state. ^

For those who are getting "out of stock" messages beware. I ordered Details on 9/23 and got the "out of stock" message on 9/29. However, when I checked again today, the magazine subscription had gone through and I had 500 miles deducted without any additional action on my part. Hopefully those that got the "out of stock" message and re-ordered won't get two magazine subscriptions!

Magazine Mileage Awards, which you say you used, charges money for magzines and gives a small number of miles (600 for the Economist, which costs $129).

Magazines for Miles lets you spend miles to receive mags/newspapers.

I was also double-deducted and received NO confirmation email(s). I selected Outside magazine, entered my address, clicked "Submit" and got a pop-up error message saying "Session Expired" (or something like that) that some others have reported. I wasn't taken to a confirmation page or anything. I waited about an hour and when I received no confirmation email, I clicked through again... same error.

Turns out that both deductions posted within hours and so I immediately called US Airways (their answering system hung up on me and told me to call back later) and then tried calling Magazines for Miles. The rep said that she couldn't cancel the order because it takes 2-3 days for them to receive the order from US Airways. The next day I tried US Airways again, got hung up on once, tried again, and after 1 hour on hold, I was put through to an agent, who eventually put me through to another agent, and then I waited about 20 minutes as she tried to sort it out. By the end she said that she had submitted the request on my behalf and that I should see the miles for one of the orders re-posted in 7-10 days. Hope so.

Bottom line: *don't* click again if you get the Session Expired error!

(Also when calling US Airways I had more success getting through to an actual person when I pressed "0" as soon as possible. When I actually navigated through the automated system and let them know that I was calling about my Dividend Miles account, I always got the "We're unusually busy. Please try calling again later" hang-up message. Don't know if that's due to the random times in which I called or if Dividend Miles account stuff is low-priority, but just a heads-up in case you're also dealing with this...)

Yes!! I personally discussed this in this thread before!! Try again after a while (i tried a couple of days after and everything went fine!!) ;)

I signed up Mrs. dwcatty to receive Health. She got the email saying she was getting the subscription. She hasn't had the points deducted from her account, however, and when I go to the 'check your status' link up thread it tells me this:

I just placed an order for 26 issues of ESPN the Magazine for 500 miles through the "Get Miles" -> "Magazines" link on the US site. It immediately took the miles and posted in my account.

ESPN might be considered a good hit for some of you looking for a "good" magazine to use. 26 issues is good value (1/2 year) plus you get access to their radio insider for free with it, if you like getting access to their radio shows and podcasts, etc.

well, I don't think everyone gets to pick from the same set of magazines. I can confirm that when I signed up, ESPN was not there in the list, but SI was. But I had some AA miles that were expiring by year end and I had already ordered a bunch of Magazines prior to Grand Slam. So I ended up ordering something like Inc. I see that 500 miles have been taken out twice from my DM account. Already sent an email to DM, but no response yet.

Ordered the 'Cigar A' mag for 400 mile using magsformiles.com and got the hit.

I ordered Horse Illustrated on Oct 14th. I used my name and account number but had it sent to my mom as a gift order. Nothing has posted yet. I just called the 800 number and the CSR told me the order is delayed but couldn't say why or what was going on. He said the magazine was still in stock, but he couldn't say if it would still be in stock when my order finally went through. He advised me to call back this Fri or Sat to recheck. Apparently they are open everyday until midnight Eastern time.

Boy would I like to punch that sessionExpired error. Even doing the above with all the browsers / logging configurations I can think of (even at work!) I can't get in. Sigh.

Edit: of course right after I complained, I deleted the "portal.html" part of the URL, and it works. Ain't that how it goes.

For future reference, in these situations it's always helpful to 1) clear cache and cookies (if possible) and if not possible or simply as an alternative to 2) use "private browsing" - most newer web browsers offer this feature (all call it something different), but it can be a huge help if you're dealing with an obstinate website or working on multiple accounts from one computer.

Glad it worked out for you, even if it was frustrating - now the more important question is will the magazine be worth the effort? :)

Actually The Atlantic doesn't look half bad, and I've inadvertently read a few of their online articles over the past month, so if all works out it should be a better hit than I had anticipated.

Hahaha. I experienced the same thing last year, when I ordered the Observer for a GS hit. What a total waste of paper. The Village Voice is orders of magnitude more intellectually stimulating, and it's free.

Hi -- just counting up my points and noting that my mags for miles hit hasn't posted although I purchased the mags over 5 weeks ago. Went through the link posted on The Points Guy blog, so I think that's okay. Checked and the subscriptions are showing up -- they are there; I just didn't get the points. Is this happening to anyone else? I messaged them & got the answer they will get back in 5 business days. Sigh.... In the login screen, input your name, email address and "new" zip code

Now I am worried, because on the subscription screen I was able to only enter one address. I entered the recipient of my donation. However, the confirmation email now shows that address as both the billing and delivery address, which of course does not match my account address. Will this likely cause any problems? Thanks.

Yes, not a bad read. Definitely a broader appeal than something limited to fashion or cigars. At 40 miles per issue, yeah, it's actually not a bad deal.

Just looked at beltway's magna (and most magnanimous) carta post #1 starting the Other Partners thread, and see that there is no indication that the latter will count as a hit, despite it being listed among the potential hits in the Dividend Miles website. (But I didn't even get the miles for it.) That consumes ONE insurance hit. But it's not money down the drain. I like the National Geographic Traveler. And $10? Meh. But on the other hand, it might have the effect of making three other hits useless. That could hurt. Points up again the value of reading EVERYTHING that issues from beltway's keyboard. Alas...

Mag for $$ wasn't part of the program. You won't get a Grand Slam hit for that transaction.
