Audience Rewards: What show did you buy? [Archive]

So I probably jumped the gun on AR, since we have a few weeks to figure out whether the trivia counts, but what the heck.

I figured that we should keep a list of shows that people buy, just so we don't all buy the same show and create an empty arena. The cheapest show I saw was the Grand Poetry Slam in Charlotte, but I felt bad about doing that one (don't know why I felt bad about doing that one but not a different one) so for my first hit I did:

The Brass Connection, CLT, 9/25, $15+$3

Edited to add: If you are not going to use your ticket, please consider donating to the USO. One thing I would caution -- there were issues last year with the activity date being the date of the show, not the date of purchase. It's probably safest to pick a show that's before the end of the GS promotion period.

When do these guys credit? I seem to remember monthly, but I have been known to be wrong on occasion.

I would guess only on NC.

A quick Google seach will connect you to a USO in the vicinity of the performance that you will unexpectedly miss.

To clarify, under the Audience Reward Portal, look on the left hand side and pick Charlotte, NC in the drop down box. This will bring you to a screen where it gives you an option to browse shows so click the option 'buy ticket' (I picked Brass Connection but you can pick whatever you like). After the following is done, The Audience Rewards screen will link you to the Carolina Tix site, which seems to be in charge of all these shows. there will be an option on the mid-to-lower part of the screen which gives the option 'Look For Other Events' Click that and then find The Music Man and click through. You should be given the option to buy tickets with an option for a child's ticket at $8.50. you also have to sign up for a Carolina Tix account to complete transaction. Be sure you have signed up for a valid Audience Rewards account also, which will be prompted when checkout comes. There is an up coming show for 'The Music Man' on sept 15 with $9.50 all in available. Whew..hopes this helps.

good question, as I scrolled through the participating offerings, 'the music man' didn't seem to be listed. I'm going to be safe and pick the Poetry Slam. thanks for the heads up.

And yes, I bought this even though I have no way of actually going -- fortunately, I looked at the seat map and it seems to be a big venue (with general seating), so hopefully my one ticket won't make much of a difference.

Actually, it is not that easy. I tried to do the same thing a few weeks ago and e-mailed to ask them how to switch earning preference. It seemed like there had to be a very good reason to switch and so it was much easier to create a new account.

So I have a carolinatix account (which has my audience rewards account linked to it), so I purchased a poetry slam ticket through the carolinatix website, but there was nowhere to enter any numbers, but I'm assuming that was because I was logged into my account (which is linked to Audience rewards)...so in theory, this purchase should trigger points to my Audience rewards account, which is set to earn Dividend Miles, so I should be good to go?

Log into Aud rewards main site, not the US Air link. Then go to profile and change your earning preferences that way.

hm.... i have the possibility to enter several programs in my audience rewards account and i am able to decide which one is my current earning preference @:-)

I can do that as well. One can't realistically change E-Miles (for example) to a different partner, but Audience Rewards lets me switch quite easily between Delta, US Airways, Amtrak, Starwood, etc.

I am nervous about this hit because there seem to be so many things that could go wrong what with the AR account, the Carolina tix, etc. I think I read that the miles don't post until after the performance. Is that mean that it doesn't post to AR until after that or to DM?

I hope so, because that's what I did! When I created my AR account, it asked for my US number. I went through that link to buy my ticket. Some offered an option for getting miles for buying a ticket, some didn't. I only used the one that did.

My trivia question points transfered pretty quick (before Grand Slam started). The question is...will they generate a hit? I decided did not chance it and donated my Poetry Slam to the USO.

Anybody in LA area order tickets thru Ticketmaster for Audience Rewards show?

I found a "cheapish" ticket ($22 face) to a show that I thought I might actually attend, but after Ticketmaster got through with me, it was up to almost $38!

I didn't see a "will call" option, and, despite hitting me for $11 in service and handling fees, they were hitting me with another $4.75 in charges to pursue the "free" mailing option.

Is my best option to pay them $3.50 (in addition to the $11 that they've already hit me with!) to allow me to print it out myself?

I'm also concerned because, as I read the instructions on AR, I don't have a chance to fill in my AR number until AFTER my transaction is completed. If that link doesn't come up, I'm pretty much screwed, because I can't return the tickets.

I hate Ticketmaster....

Yes I did, but it still made me sign up for a Carolina Tix account. And navigating that was troublesome because nothing is necessary (name etc) until when you want to purchase and then it is necessary!

click on a free seat at the seat plan - than a window pops up and you can choose between:

REGULAR 24.00
SENIOR 20.00
STUDENT 11 & UNDER 8.00
STUDENT 12 & UP 12.00

Click on STUDENT 11 & UNDER 8.00 and your selection appears on the left

Last month, the trivia points transferred automatically into my US account pretty quickly. It took about a week, though the wording At AR suggested it might take quite a bit longer.

Last year, I bought my ticket on the second day that AR was announced as a partner for a show in New York City (which I later gave to my niece). I had picked a performance that was well outside the end-date for Grand Slam because we were not aware of the show date 'rule'. I am not sure how, but it was honored as a hit. It posted like this:
12/11/2010 12/20/10 AUDIENCE REWARDS MILES 100

If you make a purchase, it will definitely post with the show date (the second date shown above). I believe the first date was the date it was processed by AR.

On a side note, having just gone back and looked at my activity on DM website, we have a much much shorter time period in which to get hits. Yuck.

When does the show appear under pending transactions on the AR site? I bought the Poetry Slam on Wednesday following the breadcrumb trail, credit card is showing a posted transaction, but still no listing on AR.

You'll typically find the cheapest shows in the smaller cities. You can't sort by price. Just have to keep clicking on shows to find something that works. Keep in mind that shows are added regularly, so don't worry if you missed the latest cheapie that was performed on 9/16.

If the show isn't listed on US Airways AR link, I wonder if it will work. I did find a $30 ticket for Wicked Behind the Scenes thing. My brother lives in NYC and loves Broadway. So worst case, I buy it and give it to him. But show date is in Nov. The ones before then were canceled. So I'd guess it's not a sure thing.

Another question: If AR takes you to ticketmaster, do you still get the hit?

A hint if you are unsure if your ticket can earn miles via AR:

At audience rewards you can choose https://www.audiencerewards.com/RetroCreditform.cfm

If your ticket is listed in the show information you should be fine if the point wont appear automatic

For me its reverse. CC is showing confirmed charge, but nothing in audiencerewards.

I bought Poetry Slam tickets and were left at Will Call. I was charged on my AMEX but there is no audience rewards points showing as pending from the Poetry slam. I only have trivia questions in the pending activity.

I also donated my tickets to USO as well and did not hear anything.

Dispute the Charge with your CC if the miles/Hit doesnt post,After all it said I will Earn 50 miles when purchasing the tkt, it didnt say I needed to purchase and actually see the show or p/u the tkt. my show is 9/25 so who knows what will happen

For those that the charge didnt post wait a few days and then maybe try another show if your CC was never charged

What I did last year, and what I think I will do this year, is have the ticket either emailed or mailed to me. I think it was mailed because I remember mailing it to my niece in NYC.

Trivia posts twice a month... at the beginning and in the middle of the month.

I don't know how much luck people would have with chargebacks, anyway. If your credit cards were at will call and you were charged appropriately, I can't imagine that the CC will care that you didn't get your bonus miles.

to say it more clearly:

Last year it took 12 days form the date of the show to hit your AudienceRewards account and another 4 days to sent to US DM.

So, if your no-show or show was on the

16th it will show on AudienceRewards around the
28th and on the
3rd oct at you DM Account.

Agreed. CC charged was posted and billed. I would give it a week or two before exepcting to see any points posted on AR and miles on US. No need to panick, people! I'm shooting to hit 37/38 in case 1 or 2 drop out and do not count, to reach the goal of 36.

For those of you who bought The Brass Connection, the show was cancelled. According to the guy I have on the phone, you can have it refunded to your credit card. He said it was supposed to happen automatically, but then again, they were also supposed to have called everyone.

Given that it is 9/26, I may wait a few days and see if AR trivia points show up and are a hit. If I can't definitively count them as a hit, I will purchase another show ticket.

Even worse for me. I have Delta Titanium status, which allows me to allow me to book any flight within 24 hours. Of course, the Y fare was $14,213.45 and they routed me BOS-ATL-CVG-CLT. Man, was I ticked when I found out.

The guy I spoke to yesterday said he would have his supervisor remove the charge and he would call me back once it was done. Glad I didn't hold my breath...

The online redemption you see below was requested and posted in less than a half hour of the sweep that garnered 4 out of 4 hits this morning.

I guess it depends on when the hit posted on 9/29 vs. when the sweep occurred on 9/29. One of my 8 must have posted after the sweep. Good to see your (a) magazines for miles and (b) audience rewards trivia counted as hits.

I think you're right. That's why I keep checking...I'm hoping nothing else will post until the sweep so I can (hopefully, all fingers and toes crosssed) keep that perfect multiple of 16 intact. If all 16 hits count, we will have a couple of those gray areas resolved.

I'm working with three accounts for GS, and I can confirm that all the trivia hits counted for all three.

Also, I had 9/29 activity that was counted as a hit to reach a bonus threshold that posted on 9/29.

I just discovered this issue yesterday. If you click on PointsPlay after logging in you will earn Showpoints. To get US miles you need to select "Partner Points" at the top and click the "Visit Now" next to US Airways. It is a different bank of trivia questions.

Alright - we now know that the trivia postings count for a hit, but I haven't seen anyone in any of the various threads confirm they got a hit for buying a ticket. My purchase was on 9/16 but nothing has posted yet. I guess I can do the trivia now as a backup.

So I purchased the ticket for the Poetry Slam in Charlotte and haven't seen anything posted to Audience Rewards. I just got off the phone from AR, and they said that that theater in Charlotte now only sends over updates once a month. So he said give it a few more weeks and then call back. So I'm hoping that he's right.

If I hear more, I'll let y'all know.

If you aren't charged and you want a hit for audience reward, choose the trivial questions and receive a "hit"...many are reporting a "hit" and it doesn't even cost anything.

I already have my hit, but like others I bought a Poetry Slam ticket and also did the trivia. The trivia posted and was a hit and the Poetry Slam is who knows what.

For those of you who bought The Brass Connection, the show was cancelled. According to the guy I have on the phone, you can have it refunded to your credit card. He said it was supposed to happen automatically, but then again, they were also supposed to have called everyone.

Given that it is 9/26, I may wait a few days and see if AR trivia points show up and are a hit. If I can't definitively count them as a hit, I will purchase another show ticket.

Are you referring to the trivia? There are two different trivia sections on AR. The one on their main page only allows you to earn showpoints. But if you go thru the link on US you will see on the left side a link to a different trivia section where there are only ~6 questions and you earn DM's & showpoints for the answers. No transfer initiation is required on your part. Its automatic.

I am wondering if the reason we didn't receive the AR for the Poetry Slam is because you can onluy have earning status for one program. I looked into my Earning Program Preferences and I have 3 partner programs- U.S airways, SPG and AR.

When I purchased the Poetry Slam , only SPG had earning. When i didn't see the "hit", i changed earning to U.S airways. Today I received my 10 points. I have now used the earning status for AR and will see If I will receive my Poetry slam.

sorry don't remember exactly but I know it was less than a week.

When you answer the AR questions (5) make sure that you have U.S. Airways with your dividend miles number there with "Earning" and then click 'Update". I have U.S. airways, AR, and Starwood Guest Preferred for my "earning".

Only one program for earning at a time.

The best I could find was parking for $5 or Tribal seeds at Charlotte for 10-26. I was afraid to do will call because I've heard some people are getting the purchase credited back voiding the hit. Same reason I didn't do parking for $5. I paid $10 plus $1.50 handling and had them mail it.

My favorite part of the Grandslam so far is the BofA occupation question when I signed up for a new acct to try and get the debit card before the deadline. One of the choices is "Arms Dealer" yet my occupation "auditor" isn't on there. Too funny. I'm thinking the "arms dealer" pick would land you on the no fly list :)

They may have canceled because none of the Grandslam people are showing up. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I had them mail my ticket just in case they try to credit back at will call. Leave it to the theater to screw up a perfect "hit".

This is my first Flyertalk post.

Last week I confirmed over the phone with DM that I received a hit for answering 1 of the 2 point trivia questions. It was free.. However, he said all subsequent point deposits from Audience Rewards would not count as a hit in this years GS.

I noticed the DM trivia questions disappeared, then new questions appeared in a few days. They are only worth 2 pts each and don't count as a hit. However, that is 20 points every time they change the trivia questions, and every point counts.

Audience Rewards has a daily limit of how many trivia questions you can answer. I don't know the exact limit, but I reached it the other day. When I attempted to answer a Disney trivia question, it told me I reached my daily limit.

My plan is to answer all the trivia questions and transfer them into another program to help with whatever points I need to transfer into DM before the end of GS.

This is my first GS and since I didn't have any active hotel or other active programs, and I'm only 25 so I was not able to rent cars until recently, I'm signing up for all the programs eligible in GS.

A helpful tip for others: when there's a deal (or, as in this case, a borderline/questionable GS hit) flying under the radar, don't call the airline, for Pete's sake.

I know what the rules say, but the man on the phone from Dividend Miles Last Thursday afternoon said that I multiple activity from Audience Rewards, but I only recieved 1 hit. Since I havn't purchased a thing from Audience rewards and he said I definatly had a hit from Audience Rewards partner activity, then it must have worked. Try the trivia before you purchase something. We've got time. Besides, what's it going to cost you?

The way I read the statement posted above from the CSR is that it was directed to that specific one individual and not to all participants in general. In that particular case, since he had already received a hit for Audience Rewards, no future hits on trivia would count as hits for that person.

I know what the rules say, but the man on the phone from Dividend Miles Last Thursday afternoon said that I multiple activity from Audience Rewards, but I only recieved 1 hit. Since I havn't purchased a thing from Audience rewards and he said I definatly had a hit from Audience Rewards partner activity, then it must have worked. Try the trivia before you purchase something. We've got time. Besides, what's it going to cost you?

I understand that the trivia counts as a hit and it is true that you can only get 1 hit from Audience Rewards regardless of how many activities you have post from them.

You were saying above that you were going to transfer trivia points to other partners in order to transfer those to US Airways for miles and therefore a hit. The 10-30 points you get answering trivia from Audience Rewards that you transfer to other partners wouldn't be close to the minimum number of points you need to meet the minimum transfer requirements to qualify for a hit. Most transfer partners require transferring in the neighborhood of 5,000 points or similar.

FWIW, I actually needed to buy show tickets last week and figured I'd use Audience Rewards to see about posting times and stuff. The tickets were purchased on 10/8 for a show on 10/9. Activity date was the show date and they posted on 10/17.

How about opening up a Best Buy rewards account, answering couple of questions on Audience and then transferring 3 BB into 1 US for a hit on points.com

The poster above was talking primarily about hotel transfers but the Best Buy transfer would work. Not sure how much trouble it would be worth since you can do the S&H Greenpoint transfer pretty much instantaneously without having to wait for AR to post trivia points to Best Buy first.
