Mexico - Las Ventanas al Paraiso or One and Only Palmilla?

I'm looking for that good FT info and recommendation here!

My wife and I are planning about four days near Cabo. We think we want to stay at either Las Ventanas al Paraiso or at the One and Only Palmilla.

We had lunch at the Palmilla years ago, and thought the place was beautiful. We've never been to Las Ventanas.

Here's what we like: good beaches and pools for swimming and sports, good food, and a nice room.

We don't play golf, and we don't need crazy amounts of service, although we like some. We'd like to be near enough to town to go out for dinner if we feel like leaving the resort, but that's not essential.

We really don't need nightlife like a disco.

Tennis would be nice.

Is either one of these a clear better choice for us than the other?

Also, I think both are Virtuoso properties, so if there's a Virtuoso agent reading this, please PM me and hopefully we can work together here.

Finally, if there's another place near Cabo that we should consider also, we're open to that.

Thanks!

IMHO, Palmilla is the nicer place - I think Las Ventanas tries too hard to make you cognizant of it's exclusivity and celebrity clientele, whereas Palmilla is simply elegant and luxurious without going out of it's way to be snobby. I also think that Palmilla's location much nearer to San Jose del Cabo is more useful and convenient for excursions outside the resort grounds Also, Palmilla's beach is generally much more swimable than that of Las Ventanas. Ventanas is better located to more top-notch golf courses, but if golf is not on your agenda, that advantage would be lost on you.

Thanks for the reply.

We did end up booking the Palmilla, and we can't wait.

We get two rounds of golf free, but I think those will go unused.

Now we're trying to decide about getting a car. Anyone know if there's a parking charge at the Palmilla?

You're staying at a place that costs $500-1000 a night, and you are worried if parking a car will add $20 to that?

FWIW, one can park for free near the public beach and where the fishing pangas leave, but I don't know about overnight. I can't speak to the costs of parking a car on the grounds if you are staying there.

Well, $395 a night, with breakfast included, and, yes, I'd factor $20/night into the decision. If it's rental car cost + parking versus cab costs, then $20/night is certainly meaningful.

So does that mean it is, in fact, $20/night? Or is this just a what-if?

As I said, I can't speak to whether or not they charge overnight parking fees. I have parked in the lot by the beach/fishing boat area for free during the day. I've never stayed there, as I own a condo in San Jose del Cabo, but I spend time on the Palmilla grounds whenever I'm down there, as I like the public beach there, and I often take out fishing boats from there.

If you're staying there, why not contact them and ask if they charge for overnight parking.
