On the other hand I have received no official word personally that this change has been made. No e-mail, no mailing, nor anything on the site. Therefore, I fully expect to receive 4000 miles next quarter for each four stays that I make.
Would you not all think that Hilton would not want to risk a lawsuit by following the same pattern of airlines by giving AT LEAST a six month notice period before they implemented a change such as this??

From the terms and conditions
"Hilton reserves the right to add, modify, delete or otherwise change any of the rules, procedures, conditions, benefits, Rewards or Reward levels pertaining to the Program at its sole discretion, with or without notice, even though changes may affect the value of points or Reward Certificates or Confirmations already accumulated. This means that Hilton may make changes that affect, but are not limited to, participating hotels, travel partner affiliations, rules for earning HHonors points, Reward redemption levels, rules and procedures for the use of Rewards, continued availability of awards, Reward inventory, Reward types, and the features of special offers. "
This is term 5 in the Ts and Cs and is highlighted. They are perfectly entitled to change earning rules with no notice at all. Term 4 does say that they would give 6 months notice before cessation of Hilton Honors scheme
I don't see that they have anything to worry about

I received the following email from HHonors Service Desk this AM in response to my question to flyertalk@hilton.com"
"Thank you for your e-mail.
Based on the numerous outlets available to our Hilton HHonors members for earning bonus points, such as the Reward Exchange program, AutoMall.com,and FTD.com, it has been determined that the Airline Partner bonus and
Threshold bonus are currently not financially feasible.
You will still continue to earn both hotel points and airline miles for the same stay, plus, any individual promotions that any of our over 2,000 hotels may offer."

candidly, I disagree... get rid of FTD.com, automallonline.com and keep the 4k threshold bonus... reward those that stay, and punish those that do not...
besides, doesn't HH get paid via the Reward Transfer?

EWR-COFLYER, I could not agree more, especially for members outside the US,where automall.com or FTD.com is not available....
Regardless of any law, that might exist, it is simply a bad move, I would consider the 4 stays bonus as one of the biggest advantages for Gold and Diamond members !!

From my statement:-
Please note that as of April 1st 2002 you will no longer earn 4,000 HHonors bonus points after every four paid stays in a calendar quarter. You will continue to earn a 50% bonus on all HHonors Base points earned as a Diamond VIP,............
This is bad. Very bad. As a UK based member I don't have acess to the bonus points mentioned above. I have been a great supporter of the Hilton programme and because of the generous benefits have made Hilton my preferred choice of hotel. It may be time to reconsider my choice.
Notice how they did this AFTER the Freddies voting had closed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Yep, I agree. HHonors ought to do a customer survey periodically and get our feedback on which the benefits are most important. We may not like the ultimate decision they make, but at least we could feel we were part of the process.

Once again, I have received no official notification from Hilton, and fully expect to get 4000 miles for each for stays in the next quarter.

You may expect it, but as noted, Hilton has no legal obligation to do so.

You will receive official notification from Hilton in their January statement, that will be mailed (and hopefully, received) this month.

You can expect it, but they are hardly likely to give it to you if the terms have changed. They can change the terms "with OR WITHOUT notice".
Whether they have notified you or not, they can change it

hfly,
you should have received your January statement by now. I know they send them out 3rd class, but they're usually sent during the first week of the month. then again, you'll need to have a stay or other activity during the month of January in order for you to receive a statement.
one more suggestion: you might also want to request the latest copy of the Member Benefits Guide along with the Member Rewards Guide. The guides will contain all the latest T&C's as well as new earning/redemption opportunities. The Guides should be available by now.

One more thing, I wouldn't bet my account and trust the web for the most accurate and the latest updates.
The HHonors web page may not always contain the latest info, due to the time it takes for them to load up the pages or other technical difficulties.

I did have a stay in Jan, but have not received my statement yet. If I do not receive my statement before March 31st, how much you wanna bet I get the bonus next quarter?!?

Hilton will not get rid of FTD.com, automallonline.com because they GENERATE revenue. These firms are buying points from Hilton to award to people.
Threshold bonuses on the other hand are a giveaway. So whilt they were nice while we had them, I am afraid there is not much that will happen to reinstitute them. Unless, that is Hilton finds itself cometiting with similar bonuses from Sheraton, Hyatt, Holiday Inn etc. At least that is my take on it.

this would seem to be contrary to the HH company line:

as stated before, I agree with you... I think that they *are* getting money from those programs, which makes the "not financially feasible" comment difficult to digest...
