US Airways 2011 Grand Slam Promotion - How Many Hits So Far?

I did four hits on 9/15-9/16 (points.com, magazines, thanks again, and downloaded toolbar/ 3+ searches). So far only two things have shown up for me, as you can see below (the points.com swap and subtracting the miles for the magazine).

My other hits were late in September, so I don't expect them to show, but 9/15 - 9/16 ones should've shown up by now, right?

Yes and no. As discussed recently in the Toolbar thread, toolbar miles are credited once/month, typically between the 4th & 9th. Right now nobody has a posted toolbar hit.

Lack of crediting is usually evidence of user error, such as using a credit card not registered with TA. The good news is that TA is pretty forgiving, and CS fairly responsive. If you went the usual route (buying a restaurant.com cert), email TA with the details (date/amount/cert #) and they will in all likelihood post a manual credit for you.

I have not yet gotten the e-mail, but I'm loving the way this promotion is going so far.

That said, would it be that hard for US to list in the e-mail (or on the website) which items you got hit for?

Still a big thumbs up from me, I'm shocked how better run this is than some other promos I've been involved in.

No, your hits did not all disappear overnight. It's October 1, and the US system default is to show miles posted only in the current month. If you adjust the date range (and then click "Filter changes"), you'll see your hits. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Object_permanence#Early_research)

I used link from U.S. Airways for Thanksagain for Itunes on 9/19/11 and again on 9/26/11 for Restaurant.com...I never received posted points on my Mileage account. I emailed Thanksagain and they confirmed the purchase on 9/19 and I just emailed again to ask for them to manually add this to my account.

I am NEVER able to get itunes points through affiliates. I clear cookies, cache, etc. It just never works.

I'm currently waiting on my $2 donation to Petsmart for that hit.

As the last few posts in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/2011-grand-slam-promotion/1258785-how-many-hits-so-far.html make clear, US screwed up in crediting hotel transfers that generated exactly 850 miles. (It appears the programmers coded the sweep to credit only transfers of 851+ miles.) It's your Hilton transfer, and US will undoubtedly fix this for everybody.

In the future, please look in the existing threads before starting a new one.

Thanks for the additional info. I bought a restaurant.com gift certificate (by clicking on the link through ThanksAgain) in the middle of Sept, and it isn't posted in my ThanksAgain account yet. That's why I didn't get the hit (thanks for the reminding me to check there, beltway). Anyway, I have an email out to ThanksAgain, and we'll see what happens.

Not sure why others are suggesting you follow up with Biscoff. You certainly can, but my guess is that the monthly posting of Biscoff miles on 9/29 was for transactions completed through some earlier date. I have a couple of Biscoff transactions on 9/25, neither of which posted on 9/29. I'm going to wait for the next monthly posting before doing any follow up correspondence. My Biscoff purchases have always posted without follow up, they just sometimes takes over a month for the posting process to be run.

Yep, sweep was done on 9/29. You only had 3 hits post by then.

Thanks Mike and HikerT.... With all the talk about the "double sweep" over this last period I thought it stretched until the end of the month....

Based on my 12 hit credit given today, seems so. As I noted, there is only one other possible explanation and that is if my Amazon purchase with 9/8 activity date was mistakenly counted as a hit based on 9/15 post date. Highly unlikely since US has been very good about tracking activity dates only in promos.

Actually, they are two different partners (albeit with similar names). The partner where you give up miles for magazines is called "Magazines for Miles." Your experience seems similar to others, although once it posts it seems like a very reliable hit.

The entity I'm talking about is Magazine Mileage Awards. This is also listed as a partner on US's web site. It's different from MFM in that you pay cash for magazines and you get miles. It is not listed as a partner that can generate a "hit" as part of the GS promotion in the official terms and conditions or rules. However, I've been curious whether it might be a "secret" hit, because it seems weird to me that it's not on the list and I wonder whether US's computers are really going to kick it out as a hit. I have no reason to believe it will be a hit, but am curious, so one of my family members is using an account to experiment. But, as noted, the miles have not yet posted for my magazine order, so I'm wondering whether anyone else out there has used it in the past to get miles and might be able to tell me whether this is unusual or routine.

Going back through the thread I see what appears to be a tie between Soonerfanatic and drbobguy as leading the pack with 20 reported credited tier hits (35,000 bonus miles). Anyone receive more?

New to this game, so I am not sure about the maximum 6 hits per car rental or hotel stays. Can they be the same chains like Marriott or Hertz for 6 individual rentals and 6 individual stays or do they have to be spread out over 6 different hotel and car brands within the program ? I am going to be booking hotel for 5 different stays and would like to stay with Marriott but not sure if I have to stay with 5 different hotel brands to get the 5 hits.

I'm up to 20 hits.

I've also completed 14 additional hits that haven't posted.

If all 34 post I'll need to figure out a way to get 2 final hits. Transferring miles over from hotel programs seems too expensive (except for Starwood), so maybe a couple mattress runs...

Once you reach a hit threshold (at least 4 hits), you should begin getting emails from US Airways showing you your scorecard after each sweep.. Those of us with >4 hits got one last week. The next one should arrive in about 12 days if they send them on a regular schedule.

Actually, not everyone got those emails. Not sure if it's a setting in their system or how they decide, but none of my four accounts got the emails. All got tier bonuses.

I'm sitting at about 37 hits trying to make sure I don't miss out because of a fowl ball.

I'm at 24 hits posted, 33 earned. I have a few more hotel stays (possibly 3). After that I guess it's waiting for the next month to see if there are any foul balls, and if so doing another rental or two to cover the gap. This has been a ton of fun!

I'm at 22 hits, now at 16 posted! But no travel scheduled for the rest of the GS, so it's going to be tough getting hotels and car rentals :( -- in fact, I have a trip that starts literally 2 days after the GS starts. My goal is 10 more hits, really wish I had jumped on the Twitter hit when it was available.

Bonus for 4 and 8 hits posted earlier today. Biscoff posted in the evening and then within the last 90 minutes the bonus for 12 hits posted.

Which means they counted my Vinesse single item purchase. I have precisely 12 hits posted thus far. Unless they also counted the Amazon shopping mall that posted on 9/15, despite the activity being 9/8 - so I doubt that very much. This isn't my first GS, I'm aware of how they've made mistakes in prior years.

In my experience, there is almost always a person in any organization capable of producing a quick and effective fix/answer to any given problem/question. The hard part is finding him/her or ensuring that the issue is brought to his/her attention. Unfortunately, US is about one notch above Hilton ( = "totally feckless") when it comes to handling such issues, unless a Randy Petersen or Gary Leff raises it with some VP.

An easier way is to change > 850 to > 849 which still does the trick because there are no fractional miles.

Only question I have is I never received a confirmation e-mail about my registration for the GS. So should I call customer service and have them double check my confirmation? Or is it just easier to register again? Only reason I'm worried about registering again is that I bought miles when the GS and 100% promotion overlaped and I'm worried that if i register again that the previous hit wouldn't couldn't.

I never received a confirmation email either. And I am registered. If in doubt, just call Dividend Miles and ask. It will be on your record and they can tell you immediately....

I hate dealing with customer service cause it can take forever sometimes but it looks like that's what I'll have to do in this case. Thanks for your help!

I have 16 official hits since the last sweep. As of today I have 21 if I'm counting right. It's early in the morning! I have a few sketchy hits that I'm a little worried about. I'm trying to reach 36. Officemax doesn't seem to be cooperating. I ordered through FTD, but forgot to put in my miles number. I called right after and asked them to put in the number, but that was at the beginning of this promotion so I might need to remind them!

I just wanted to say that if I had all the hits that I have been chasing down in my dreams, I could fly first class to the moon and back and take a few of you with me!

If the sweep is this week, hopefully, I can have the first 8 hits counted as confirmed hits (10k miles). I actually have 4 more still waiting to be confirmed:

Beltway, you may want to add it to post number one so folks can call directly to Dividend miles than to be re-routed and on wait for a long time.

Nearly every transaction has posted in a timely manner, hits are being counted quickly, and bonus miles are being posted every week. One or two minor issues which I feel are vendor-related (Network Solutions, OfficeMax). Absolutely loving this promo!

It appears that the Hilton glitch has been corrected. Boyfriend had 24 hits including a hilton transfer of 850 miles and got the bonus miles for all 24 hits.

at first glance, it makes sense. but if you read the table,
at 24 hits you get 45000 miles (5000 of which is status).
you only get 10000 extra miles beyond those you obtained from 20th hits.
use the same logic, you should only get 3000 extra status miles.

Ok, well, I just noticed something...the toolbar searches, even though was downloaded and searched after 9/14, posts as

Ah yes. For some reason I had a minimum of 250 for a hotel hit in my mind....

The same thing happened to me last year. I believe I ended up with 1 add'l hit. And imagine there are ways to get add'l hits without trying, through bonuses or extra partner activity, where US Air says something like you must become a member of this service (i.e. Vinesse), yet people have reported getting hits for ordered wine books and chillers...

I have 29 hits. I'm still waiting on 6 partners to post miles:

Wine Insiders: Although they've introduced a lot of bad wine into our homes, it doesn't seem like anyone has gotten miles from this yet.

Network Solutions: Expecting 1000 or 2000 miles. Nothing yet.

US Air Biz Mastercard: My first statement closed but no miles awarded. When I called they said there was no Dividend Miles # associated with my account. They added it and said everything (including 25k bonus miles) will post with the next statement.

Dining: I see a dine reflected in my dining account but nothing posted yet.

Netflix: Am still in the first month trial period. Hopefully the 1500 miles will post with the first month's charge.

Audience Rewards: Hit a foul ball with the poetry slam, no miles awarded. Those kids did a great job though despite the nearly empty audience. I decided to lay down a bunt for this hit instead and got 12 miles from the trivia.

Actually, it is clear that the 850-mile issue (which was never limited to SPG) has been resolved, per multiple independent reports. See discussion in Hotel Transfers.

Since the email to you says expressly "as of Oct. 12," a hit posted on Oct. 13 is not going to be in that total.

I think I'm also getting an extra hit, unless the 9/10 toolbar thing counted (doubtful). I do have OfficeMax and a rental pending, but maybe all those 500-mile PCR bonuses confused the system into letting me get two hits in one hotel stay? Would be nice...Thoughts?

It's that. The scorecard is only up until 10/12, that posted 10/13.

My scorecard says 21 hits, even though I have 23, but I had 2 hits post today.

26 down, 23 posted, waiting on BofA Debit Card, Netflix, and Network Solutions.

I have 2 flower deliveries pending which will get me to 28. Pretty close to a Hilton transfer and may have enough for an e-Rewards transfer which would get me to 30. I've only done 1 car rental so far, so wouldn't mind doing 2 for $40ish to get that 20,000 mile bonus at 32. After that, I'll see if I can get another 20,000 (would definitely do it if I can get the 4 hits for under $125)

What sucks is that I had hotel stays the week before the GS and 2 planned the week after, but only 1 during :( ... could have had 3 or 4 easy and no-extra-cost hits.

The scorecard that I received from my email said that I had 9 (as of 10/12) and I have 11 posted by now (TrackItBack posted on 10/13 and Super Shuttle just posted on 10/14).

Still have 1 more yet to post by now (Shopping Mall).

Will probably do some more shopping online (flowers & Biscoff) by this weekend.

Have a car 2 week car rental on going and 3 more cars the 1st weekend of Nov during atrip. So that gets me to 36, still waiting for Net So to post if it does then I wont need a hotel stay on my trip if it doesnt post by that trip I will do a hotel stay (#6) to get me to 36 my Goal, should end up costing < $350 fir things I didnt need anyway. So since I needed 3 Hilton styas anyway to requalify for Diamond I wont include those amounts in my total since they were needed anyway

FTD ordered on 9/28, delivered on 10/3 but no miles posted yet as today 10/17

By my count, I had 23 hits on 10/12, but US said "As of October 12, 2011, you’ve earned 22 hits."

Somehow, I miscounted and will now end up with 39 hits instead of the 37 I was targeting (no status, so 40 does nothing for me). I could just cut back a couple, but I did some of the more expensive hits already, figuring I'd need them as back-up.

Lesson learned for next year: Must learn to count.

if mike is like a lot of us who doesn't fly US that much, it will probalby cost a lot of money to buy status, like 15,000 - 24,999 miles for $989.

I guess he could buy the trial silver for $200 for a very expensive hit and get silver for 90 days... still doesn't worth it to me though.

On the plus side, my Choice transfer got screwed up, so that will be saved for GS12.

Well, I was mildly tongue in cheek in my response. The thought of earning all these miles and not flying US is on the same level as a promotion to earn 100,000 miles from an airline - without flying.

You get 1 hit for EACH of those things so total of three for those activities.

I hit my first foul ball with Thanks Again. I am playing for my 11 month old granddaughter (goal - 8 hits) and went to order a restaurant.com certificate with her DM number. Somewhere in the process either Thanks Again or Restaurant.com had save ~my~ information, and so a week after ordering I got a second Thanks Again hit (won't count as a hit but is 3 miles) in my account. I had to go in and set up a new TA account for the granddaughter with a new email address I've set up for the GS, re-registered her for Restaurant.com and bought another $1 certificate.

All this to say maybe you and your husband's aco....s are linked, too. Did he get two hits? Just a thought.

i brought mile when the last promo was on the 100% at the start of the grand slam the 14 sept. Im thinking about doing the share hit but im waiting for another promo or bonus.

I opened one for my 11 month old granddaughter. She has three hits so far, on her way to 8, at a cost of about $20. If I earn her 10,000 a year, she can fly with grandmom and granddad to Paris when she's older. :D

you don't get a hit for "points.com" you get a hit for exchange miles on points.com, then a hit to buy miles (on points.com or directly through usairways)

I don't fly US, and really just enjoyed finding holes in the system, getting miles for cheap. To even spend another $40 to get 10k more miles would seem wasteful to me.

Yes, Biscoff samplers is very delicious that I am willing to share half cost with anyone who just wanna the miles but not the sample order.

I've done 15 hits, only 7 have posted. I'm still waiting on sharebuilder, toolbar searches, biscoff, skymall, vinesse, the dining program, a wyndham hotel stay, and an emiles deposit. I've followed up with skymall, biscoff, and vinesse - they all show that I've earned the miles and say they should be posting (all over 5 days). The dining program and hotel stays are showing up in the dining and hotel websites, just haven't posted over yet.

I need to do 2 more hits, I want to have an extra just in case I have a foul ball in here.

I started GS 11 yesterday morning. I'm currently taking bets on how many of my 22 hits will post. I'm sure it will be something like 12. :) There's always GS 12, I suppose . . .
