Hilton HHonors - DO DOUBLETREE HOTELS HAVE EXEC. LOUNGES?

Hi there. New to the board, which, by the way, is very friendly and welcoming, thank you for that.

The title pretty much says it. I can't tell if Doubletrees and Doubletree Club Hotels have executive lounges? I am grateful for any responses. I consider the lounge access a BIG part of the HH Gold upgrade. Thank you.

TPA and SJC would be two out of the 16 or so that I've stayed that have a lounge.

Very few DT hotels have executive lounges (personally, I've never stayed at a DT that had one). Nevertheless, as a Gold you are entitled to a free breakfast coupon. IMHO, breakfast at a hotel resstaurant is usually better than at a lounge.

I am going to assume most D/T's don't have a lounge. The Miami hotel didn't give me a coupon for bkst or my cookies http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif, but will have to check on this the next time.

I stay at Dbltrees in smaller cities and most do. If not they have ALWAYS given me extras!

The Doubletree in Charlottesville, VA had a lounge. Perhaps if they are never full, they can afford to carve out a few rooms to make a lounge. Who knows?

The Doubletree San Jose (California) has an executive lounge comprised of the very wide hallway next to the elevator bank on the tenth floor. (Not a complaint, just a description.) I had the breakfast buffet and thought it pretty good (fresh pastries, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice, etc.). Didn't get a chance to sample the evening reception though (worked too late).

By the way, this was a Priceline stay and as a Diamond I was allowed access to the lounge. Plus I got stay/nights credit, but no points/miles. Not too shabby, as I expected NO HHonors credit at all! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Had a really wonderful stay recently in a Dallas Doubletree, which has a SUPERB lounge.

This little report also has to do with shoes, and security lines, but here is the setting.

We stayed at this "Doubletree At Lincoln Center near Galleria" for 2 nights. This is a top line Hotel with real 5 star Asian lobby area feel etc.

We were on a $45 a night Priceline rate which surprised us even more as to the facilities we got. Got upgraded to high floor, huge rooms, got handed the cookies, got an approved 3.30pm check-out without incident, and have to say the 18th floor lounge is the BEST Hotel lounge I have ever experienced anywhere. Two working computers, printers, fax machines, [all free to use] nice breakfast, drinks and heaps of room up there, and when we were there [which was lots!] and there were few visitors.

And the NICEST and most genuinely friendly lounge "custodian" you will ever meet. She was like your Mom, and chatted and bent over backwards helping every person in there. She even bought in as she promised to do, her copy from home of the Dallas Sunday paper for me on Tuesday so I could track down the President Day sales!

From late Feb that lounge now opens again until 8pm from very early morning. I never usually feel obliged to tip those folks (does anyone else?) but I went up when we were leaving to hand her a $5 tip for her charming assistance, but the lounge was deserted!

Anyway one morning we were chatting with another guy having his free breakfast and he was *****ing about how much he travelled and how little he was home. Asked him what line he was in and he said "shoe salesman". We'd just gone through 5 times in recent days the now normal total lunacy of taking off our shoes, having them wanded and/or swabbed etc most times, and I said I bet he was glad he didn't need to carry samples around these days. And he says [with a pained grimace!] - "I don't check bags - I take on my sample case of shoe samples as CARRY ON." He says they treat him like Osama's first cousin right now, and he can take 30 mins to have the whole mess all cleared for each flight. What a bummer. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I noted Doubletree rooms still have FREE 800 calls, and that is a rarity these days. Lobby and public areas are superb. I'd stay there again in a moment, even if needing to pay over double the rate we did. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Only one warning about this place. We made quite a few calls to Fort Worth, so we could ask about highbrow evening activities like visiting Billy Bob's Honky Tonk at the stockyards etc, and assumed these would bill as 56c local calls. They came up at about $5 each as were "long distance". They cheerily credited these when asked.

The DT Mission Valley in San Diego has an executive lounge. The lounge itself is OK, nothing special, same with the hotel. However, the serivce is wonderful from the front desk to the restaurants - they really go out of their way to make your stay nice. Upgrades, breakfast coupons, etc. all without asking as well.

I'm with JHunter on the DT San Diego Mission Valley. Extremely gracious service. Did a two week tour of Southern California with the family last summer (4 Hhonors hotels in 14 days) and asked my niece (age 6) what she liked best about the trip (Disneyland, many beaches, Tijuana, SD Zoo, Waterparks, etc) and she said that hotel where we went upstairs everynight for refreshments about 5 pm was best. There were 10 of us in three rooms and the staff couldn't have been more hospitable.

Again, I wanted to say a profoud thank you for your advice and help. It makes Doubletree look better. I love the lounges at the hotel, as you can meet some interesting people.
