Los Angeles - Car service LAX to Irvine?View Full Version : Car service LAX to Irvine? palmetto86 Sep 13, 11, 4:18 pm What's my fastest and cheapest option (no shared vans or buses) to get me from LAX to Irvine? You are better off renting a car. Not very helpful and I did not answer the question but I am sure I won't be the first to post that. palmetto86 Sep 13, 11, 4:46 pm I figured I could find one in the $80 range and taxis would be $100+. Is that about right? Any recommendations? I'm not paying for it, but I still would like to be budget conscious. directcj Sep 13, 11, 5:06 pm check this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/los-angeles/1235922-getting-sna-lax.html car service: one suggestion is advantage transport. IIRC, $115 including TIP flyaway bus: bus to irvine transport center ~ $20. http://www.lawa.org/popup.aspx?id=2512 Zarf4 Sep 13, 11, 5:18 pm check this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/los-angeles/1235922-getting-sna-lax.html car service: one suggestion is advantage transport. Orange County it was $135 incl/tip. And unfortunately Flyaway bus probably won't work for OP - departs LAX 11:45 am and next bus isn't until 3:45 pm. Price is $25, credit card only but they do have free wireless internet. bzcat Sep 14, 11, 12:11 pm Where exactly in Irvine? Taxi should be about $85 if you are going to North Irvine near UCI or SNA. If you are going South Irvine to the Spectrum area, it should be about $95. I would probably rent a car especially if someone is paying for it. Parking is free everywhere in Orange County. aBroadAbroad Sep 14, 11, 3:25 pm Yes, renting a car is by far the cheapest means if driving is an option. Otherwise, try the "business class" service offered by Express by ExecuCar (http://www.execucarexpress.com/default.aspx). You should be able to get from LAX to central Irvine for about $95 (exclusive of tip). It's a minivan, but it's a private ride. My most recent research for transport between OC and LAX found them to be the cheapest alternative by far (other than the FlyAway bus, which never works for me, as I usually need it before or after operating hours). I checked towncar/limo services, taxis and shuttles (yuck). I've used them twice in the past two months and was satisfied with the quality of the service for the price. ExecuCar is owned by Super Shuttle. They only honor a few promo codes on the business class service, but when you find one, it's generally worth about 5% off. You can earn UA miles, too. FWIW, I took a taxi from LAX to the South OC about a year ago, and it ran wellover $150 before the tip... I'm pretty sure central Irvine would run you closer to $125 than $95 these days, and that's assuming you hit zero traffic delays. YMMV. Vaze Sep 14, 11, 3:30 pm Fastest is probably a limo as others have mentioned, cheapest would probably be renting a car but it will take a little longer as you will have to get to the rental counter etc as opposed to having a limo driver meet your flight. |
