I have not been yet but my foodie friends in Paris love L'Astrance. Hiramatsu is great as well. I have been to Hiramatsu but not recently.

For me, Alain Ducasse's Benoit has the best bang for the buck. I was there recently and paid around €200 for two.

I would highly recommend Guy Savoy--it's a little bit of a less-famous name than Ducasse, but extraordinarily precise food, impeccable service, and a great location close to Etoile. Eat there, take a nice stroll down the national palace overlooking the Eiffel Tower and you've had an amazing evening for sure.

I was at L'Astrance a couple years ago (post-getting third star). I thought it was very good, but not my favorite meal in Paris. Personally, I'd recommend Pierre Gagnaire (although his food cab be a bit out there). I've also really enjoyed Le Meurice (gorgeous room) and Le Pre Catalan (great food).

We ended up at
http://www.publicisdrugstore.com/Website/site/fra_plaisirdessens_atelieretoiledejoelrobuchon.htm

Cost was 160 Euros ea. for tasting menu and another 78 for 3 glasses of wine/tax for 1 person, 398 Euros total.

Went there because we are California casual people and it wasnt a problem for shorts.
We sat at the bar that goes all the way around the kitchen area, had the best seats.
Hard to say if a meal is "worth" that kind of money, but it was spectacular.
