Good Day All,

I am heading to ATL airport next week and trying to "decifer" the airport maps with no luck. I will be arriving from TPA at 8:00am and arriving at ATL at 9:29am. I need to get to the train station on the Gold*No to NE Northbound to Doraville Station.

1) Is 30 minutes enough time to get to the train station
2) I will be on Air Tran so what are my steps to get from the gate to the train station.

Any other tips you suggest to get there at 10:00am and what to look for. Much appreciate the advice. Thank you.

Take the rail from the concourse to baggage claim, and follow the signs to MARTA. You can only go north from the airport. One line goes to Doraville and the other to North Springs. Look on the side of the trains for the destination. If you get on the wrong train, you can transfer at the Lindbergh Station. Without a checked bag, 30 minutes from gate to platform is doable. Trains run every 15 minutes.

Exit the train from your concourse at the baggage claim stop. Go right to escalator, take escalator up. Take a right towards Air Tran baggage claim. Take a left toward the West exit of the terminal. Marta is just before you exit the terminal on your left. Buy a card from the machine or from the agent ($2 one way). When you get up to the top of the platform for Marta, Doraville trains usually (but not always) depart from the left.

If someone is picking you up at Doraville, confirm where they will pick you up. The usual place is near the North east exit of the station. Go down stairs from platform, circle back to your left and exit the station going the direction the train arrived.

Watch the taxis... some have instituted a $5 "fuel surcharge" fee, and notice of this is not on the taxi, but hidden inside the taxi.

Why is this an Airtran thread? This would ake a good travelbuzz topic as other airlines fly to ATL.

Go online and check the times of the departure. This way, you can pace yourself when walking to the train station and avoid missing the train by a minute or so. MARTA has decreased their frequency. So the wait can be upto 20 minutes after 9:30. Do not be afraid to use the help of the MARTA employees standing around to get your ticket.
