It has the same owner as the SJU ES. They are a resort with golf, but no casino. Here is the hotel's direct link: http://www.embassysuitesdorado.com/ I will be down there in 10 days and can give a report then. catwood Mar 8, 02, 8:40 am <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by MarshB: I just spoke to the Sales Manager there as my company just moved a division into the area. Redeemed Feb 18, 04, 9:41 am There isn't alot of info. on this property in the forum. Am considering using a GLON on this property. Does anyone have any experience staying here? How's the beach? Do they upgrade for HHonors Gold? How does it compare to the Caribe Hilton as both would be eligible for the GLON? MisterNice Feb 18, 04, 10:15 am They are worlds apart in quality, ie my opinion: Caribe Hilton = ****1/2 ES Dorado = **1/2 MisterNice jnbinpvb Apr 25, 04, 10:03 am I've tried a search, with no "hits"...has anyone had a stay at any property in the Dorado area of Puerto Rico? I am not interested in "old town-San Juan" or properties out by the airport..thanks for the advise and tips . loomis Apr 25, 04, 7:10 pm I've tried a search, with no "hits"...has anyone had a stay at any property in the Dorado area of Puerto Rico? I am not interested in "old town-San Juan" or properties out by the airport..thanks for the advise and tips . It is spelled dorado, not durado. If you try a search w/it spelled that way you will come up with quite alot of information. Good luck! The Dorado Area of PR is really nice, but it is a little bit away from the main scene in PR. If your looking for a nice place in Dorado, The Embassy Suites is nice and new and has controlled access. The Hyatt has a hotel in Dorado as well, its old and stale and caters mostly to the older crowds, if you have kids its really boring. If you are really set on not staying by the airport OK, but you have some nice choices around the airport and the area is close to everything. There is a Hampton Inn which by far is the best Hampton Inn in that I have every stayed at (a short walk to the beach) There is also an Embassy Suites also with a very short walk to the beach as well. I prefer the Hampton. There is also the Caribe Hilton which is their signature Hotel in PR. Good Luck. BeantownFlyer Apr 27, 04, 3:31 pm Actually Hyatt's Dorado beach resort can be great for kids. It is next door to their now shuttered Cerrmomar Beach Resort. While the hotel rooms at Cerromar are closed (they hope to convert it to timeshares), the adjoining time share remains open, and all the common amenities are open, including Casino, restuarants, and a 1/4 mile river pool with current, plus a Camp Hyatt program. The beach and pool (which in addition to the river pool also has a water slide) can be used by guests stating at Dorado - you just need to hop on their shuttle bus or drive over (its 3 minutes away), or just walk (a bit of a hike). So while Dorado historically catered to an older crowd, and the families gravitated to Cerrmomar, with Cerromar's rooms dark, Dorado is the place to stay. It has very nice beaches of its own too. Bikeguy Dec 1, 07, 3:30 pm I know the room is for up to 4 people. WRONG! SEE POST 7. However, our 3 kids are 7, 6, and 1 and don't take up much space. I really don't want to use double the amount of points for the second room. If there aren't 5 of us standing there for check-in, will there be a problem? Will there be issues with breakfast? I'm wondering what other peoples experience with similar situations is. espellman Dec 1, 07, 3:56 pm We have three slightly older and have stayed at several ES over the last couple of years. As a Gold, it has not only not been a problem, but the desk staffs have gone out of their way to be helpful - extra Build-a-bear sleep over kits on my son's birthday, special kiddy drinks at the evening reception, etc. The only issue at breakfast is that most of the tables max at 4 chairs, but again we have been treated very well with help finding a highchair for the little one and pointing out what the mid-sized might want to eat. Thanks for the feedback. That's nice to know Hilton went the extra mile for you. It makes me feel safer to book. troyintn Dec 2, 07, 5:34 pm Yes the room has enough room for that many people. A lot of the hotels will not let you book that many people do to fire codes. As long as you do not tell them it should be ok. LongingForORD Dec 3, 07, 5:02 pm I have not stayed at this particular ES, but I stayed in one in Orlando. It had 2 queen beds in the bedroom, and 1 queen sleeper sofa in the living room. I listed all 4 adults and 1 child in the room (on an award stay). I would make a pretend reservation on line and see how many people the system allows in the room. It was not an issue to have 5 people listed in the room. Breakfast was no issue either (and my niece ate at both the early risers breakfast and the sleep-in sittings;)). JDiver Dec 3, 07, 6:09 pm For the one year old, I'd merely book a suite for four and request a crib on arrival. Bikeguy Dec 3, 07, 8:39 pm I would make a pretend reservation on line and see how many people the system allows in the room. It was not an issue to have 5 people listed in the room. I am officially an idiot. I just tried the pretend booking and there was no problem with the 2 adults, 3 kids in one room. I had it in my head that no more than 4 are allowed in a hotel room at any time. Thanks for stating the obvious. This will let me enjoy the vacation more, knowing that everything is fine with the hotel. I really learned something valuable tonight. Thank you. As Homer would say, "Dooh!" sp? LongingForORD Dec 4, 07, 8:21 am Bikeguy, no worries. I am glad this all worked out for you. I only found out when I volunteered to take my niece to Disney world for the weekend, got a 3 night award stay and everything was fine. Then Grandma said " I'm coming too", still no problems, changed from 1 adult to 2 adults. The my sister (the mom) and her husband said "us too", so 4 adults and a very excited 5 year old in the room. (I was not going to use any more point to take this trip, since everyone else had invited themselves along!). As this was in Orlando, the hotel was very used to it. Usually you have 2 separate rooms, so the kids can go into one and you and the Mrs. can take the other. For the most part, ES are very kid friendly and can accommodate your needs. Have fun...... ksucats Mar 8, 09, 1:05 am My family & I are getting ready for a couple free nights at this resort. I am just trying to prepare myself for what to expect. I saw something about a 10% resort fee. Does this apply when booking on points? If so, do they charge me additional points or some dolllar amount? Also, I saw that (and I can't find it now) something about an hour on the tennis court being included. Can anybody confirm that? (My son wants to play & we are planning on bringing rackets & balls. Again, I just want to know what to exect.) Thanks in advance. |
