Las Vegas - Caesars classic or Palazzo

CES is not too far away, so i'm looking to upgrade my existing reservations.
What I have:
a)comped room @ off strip hotel - which I will keep in addition to
b)reservation @ Caesars/classic room $120/night no resort fee
Now i'm reading reviews that the classic room is really not worth staying in. I thought i'd try the $20 trick to upgrade out of it. So I started to look around and via Travelocity/Hotwire+hotwire finder from mycheapvegas..I believe it's
c)Palazzo @ $115/night + $17/day resort fee.
I guess the way i'm looking at it is the $20 trick may not work, so I could just put that towards the Palazzo resort fee. I'm not familiar with the Palazzo either. Just from what I can find is that the room @ Palazzo is 720 sq ft, and I think I read 3-400 sq ft for classic? I guess my Caesar room can be cancelled anytime up to 72 hours, but if I book the top secret/Hotwire room its final. any opinions appreciated.

Personal opinion here. I can make arguments for Palazzo or off strip but would definately not book Caesars, even with a room upgrade, for these reasons:
Stayed at Caesars the weekend of 8/26 and valet was very slow. Regularly took 30 minutes during the day but dropped to 20 minutes at 5:30 in the morning.
Cab lines were also long. Breakfast choices poor.
The Palazzo is a nicer hotel with much better breakfast options. For CES, the shuttle runs every 10 minutes from LVCC to Venetian and back. Very easy to use during show hours.
Off strip, price is right. Don't know where off strip so don't know about taxi/car options. Parking at CES can be tough but $20 will get you a spot at the old Debbie Reynolds hotel (don't know new name). Also, let's you avoid the CES crowds at strip hotels/restaurants.
Resort fees don't really bug me since they cover the internet fee that is $15 a day at Caesars.
Personally, I'm staying at MGM Grand Signatures since it is at end of monorail and has a full kitchen in room so I can make a breakfast in room before hitting show.

.
Where are you finding Palazzo at $115? At that rate, I'd probably switch.

I think during CES, you have probably a 0% chance of the $20 trick working. Maybe the $100 trick would be more effective :)
My understanding from others that have gone is that the wait time for shuttles can often be ridiculous. Might want to factor that into your decision on whether or not to rent a car and stay off-strip.
The rooms @ Palazzo are very nice. $115/night is definitely a good rate during normal times, and it's 1/3 of the current price I saw during that week.
If you're mainly there for CES though, does it really matter if it's 400sf vs. 720sf? You'll probably just be passing out on your bed exhausted from walking around all day.

thanks for chiming in everyone...I pretty much wanted to do Palazzo...just wanted someone tell me to do it :D
I should clarify...I'm actually at Harrahs sun-fri for the duration of CES. Got those rooms at $45/night so I think i'll just suck it up and sleep/shower there only. and def close enough for the 10 min shuttle out of Venetian
The Caesar vs Palazzo is for the weekend before. And for those that asked, I cannot confirm it's Palazzo until I go home and book it (forgot my wallet). But if it's any of the other 5 STAR north strip hotels ..i'd be fine with it

I believe that the Trump is also listed as a 5 star north strip. Please consider it's limitations before bidding such as non-casino, distance from strip, restaurant choices and such.
What dates are you going? When I was searching for 5 stars north, all i got were trumps. It's still a wonderful hotel if you have a car, but kinda crappy location without one.
Did you use the hotwire hotel identifier thingy on the www.mycheapvegas.com website? It should tell you what hotel you'll get.
Forgot to mention, if it is Palazzo, go for it. Beautiful and large rooms. Caesar classic rooms suck and are really really overpriced.

6-7?!? the weekend before CES. during CES we're at Harrahs.
Yeah, I used the hotwire identifier to locate the one @hotwire. It was practically the same price at travelocity but was a few $$ cheaper. hmm...maybe I should just stick with hotwire?

it turned out to be the Venetian. I think any of the 5 stars on the north strip would've been fine really. I'm only paying a bit more(resort fee) and guaranteed not to be the old classic rooms at Caesars.
thanks again everyone.

I think Venetian just as good as the Palazzo, a little better location as well. Can always try the $20 tip to get a bella suite on the Palazzo. Never hurts to try =).

I know they charge more for Bella's, but unless you need two beds I don't see how it's an upgrade.

I prob wont need the 2nd bed. but wouldn't mind trying the $20 for a bigger room:D. But then again it is CES, I know during the week and the weekend after its pretty booked up. Last year, I met a guy who booked during the weekday for CES at Imperial Palace for $400/night last minute. All the 5 stars were sold out completely. I guess i'm just hoping it wont be that packed the weekend before. should I even bother with the $20?
