Hello,

My son is 15 years old, and he will be traveling to Thailand, where he will be picked up by a friend of ours, we know he can enter Taiwan (where he will have a layover) on his own, and we known he can enter Thailand (final destination) on his own as well. We live in Mexico though so he will need to fly to LAX (from where he will leave the next day). All we need to know is if he can go through U.S. customs on his own. He is and American citizen with an American Passport and everything. Would we need to provide some sort of signed document?

Thank you in advance!

There isn't any problem for an American citizen to enter the U.S. You may want to check with the airline on what they require. Look on their website first. Be sure to come with him for check-in.

Welcome to Flyertalk.

This is an immigration, not a customs question. You have received three pages of answers to the same question you posted on Tripadvisor. Did you go back and read those?

We're having an issue with getting our 15-year-old to the U.S. unaccompanied for the October school holiday, but that's an airline issue rather than US immigration. Curse the varied rules of SkyTeam partners and policies that are governed by where you are physically located when you purchase a ticket.
