I understand that Michael Jordan's Steakhouse in the Intercontinental Chicago is now open. Any reports?

Because I always stay at the IC when I'm in Chicago and I suspect that they've f***ed up a formerly excellent bar area by the addition of a probably marginal chain steakhouse, in the process destroying the architectural and historic charm of the space.

I will not be present to see this travesty in person for another few weeks so I was just curious. I have no intention of dining there; I'm just wondering how they integrated this thing into the existing structure.

I haven't been personally, but I hear it is standard steakhouse fare executed reasonably well. There are likely places to get a better steak but it sounds like you could do a lot worse too.

It's on the second floor of the hotel, so I don't think they made too many changes to the bar area. There is a MJ steakhouse facade about midday between the ENO lounge and the main entrance. It could be a lot worse.

Any menu with a 23 layer chocolate cake can't be too bad. Art Smith's Table 52 has a 12 layer cake that is scrumptious, so Michael's 23 layer cake has to be almost twice as good, right? :)

We went there for dinner the other night for after a meeting and it was good to average.

We split the crab louie as a starter and it okay, I had the filet mignon 12 oz and it was one of the better steaks I've had in a while. For sides it was the green beans which were really good however the broccoli rabe was not the best, it could have been cooked longer.

The 23 layer chocolate cake will leave you begging for more.

Great service and it was a really nice place for a dinner out, would probably choose David Burke's Primehouse over MJ's. Better steaks and spot on service.

Sounds like "one of the better steaks" and a dessert that will leave you begging for more at a place that has just opened is pretty promising.

Caught that on WGN tonight while flipping stations during the Tigers-Rangers rain delay. He gave the place 3 stars. What got my attention was the stack of garlic bread with blue cheese sauce poured over it.
