With the new Quadra Smartium seats being available, is it still worth the extra miles to redeem in F Class or just save the miles and fly in C?
Your input is appreciated.

Personally, I think it is worth it. There is a reason that OZ is rated as one of the best when it comes to their F cabin. Even though their hard product isn't that "new", their soft product is great.

Redeeming miles? No question. F is worth the extra miles.

If you stay asleep for the entire flight, no food, no amenities, then probably save your miles.

Other than that remember OZ serve one tray meal in C but course by course meal in F.

I completely agree. I'm a CX man, myself. Recently tried OZ F for the first time, LAX-ICN. The soft product was great, every bit as good as CX, a bit different in style, though. I found it a bit more formal, less relaxed. FAs were more precise in discharging their responsibilities. I quite liked it, though, and now book OZ F and CX F interchangably, depending more on schedule and availability than anything else. For overnights I stay with CX; there's nothing better than those beds. I sleep better there than I do at home!!!

The Mrs. and I fly from SFO to LAX to fly on OZ in First! OZ out of SFO is only a 2 class 777. We think it is worth the money and hassle to fly to LA to catch the OZ 744 with first class.
As mentioned above the service is great , the cabin is average.
That said: The new "Q smartium" is a very nice product. ( where did they get that name? Is it like Donky Kong??)

According to OZ Korean web page,
Quadra is a abbreviation of "Quadrant" and suppose to mean 4 pros
Smartium is a made-up word of smart and ~um meaning intelligent space.
4 pros are flat-bed, privacy, direct access to the aisle and staggered layout (efficient use of space).
Whatever this means. ;)

Thank you! I guess I am not to smartium...

I do remember the Beach Boy song: " dual quad 4 speed posi-traction 409"
now I have really dated myself.
Smartium eh?

I've done both and you have a bit more space with F; although the F isn't the newest seat in the sky, I still find it comfortable and slept better on it than on NH, old-LH, and TG seats; where OZ really shines is the soft product. When doing F departing from ICN I definitely recommend doing one of the pre-ordered Korean meals.

I'm having the same dilemma, except it's complicated by the fact that I was able to grab F on LAX-ICN on a Sunday for a week-long vacation, and now I find availability in C on SFO-ICN on Saturday. I've never flown OZ F so I'm looking forward to it, but is it worth losing a day at the destination? The extra miles I'm not so worried about.

After being a loyal customer to LH, LX, BA and CX for many years, Last year I had the pleasure of sampling OZ first class on FRA-ICN-FRA and I was very impressed by all the aspects of the ground and on-board services and the F seat ^

If I have the choice I would fly them again and especially in first class

Not sure when your flying as I've been away from the forum for awhile, but I'd say OZ F is a rare gem worth trying (heck my preferred F); even Lucky9876coins has said it's the most underrated F product in one of his blogs. IMHO I'd say stick with the original plan.

F is different from J/C and if you can't understand the difference don't spend the miles or $s! J/C is still mass, F is all class... Looking forward to OZ F later this month from ICN-FRA and several hours in the ICN F lounge between my inbound from HKG (only in J/C) and outbound to FRA.
