Hi.
I will be flying to Frankfurt from Bangalore on 3rd Oct by Air India and reaching frankfurt at 18.15. After that i would like to continue my journey to Bonn. I wish to take the train from frankfurt flug fe station.
There are two direct trains, one at 19.58 and other at 21.59 (a l'le late)..
Depending on customs and immigration time taken at frankfurt airport after arrival (this being my first time travel abroad), which train should i book??
Kindly help..
Regards,

Welcome to Flyertalk.
The earlier train should be fine.
However, what I would do (even though it costs a bit more) is buy a flexible train ticket. With a flexible ticket it doesn't matter if you miss your train, you can just get on the next one and sit in any seat that is unoccupied (no reservation required). If you miss the 19.58 there is another one at 20.58 (requires a change at Mainz - but that's no big deal).
On this route the flexible fare is EUR 38.00, which is twice the price of the cheapest inflexible fare. I would pay the extra EUR 19.00 and get a flexible ticket.

Just to add... if this still works the way it worked last time I did it then you start the booking process by clicking on the train you intend to travel on (making sure you select the full fare option - "Normalpreis" in the German version), and then go on to buy your ticket. That ticket may well state a time on it, but it will be valid for other trains, both earlier and later. You don't have to do anything to travel on a different train (i.e., you don't have to get your ticket revalidated); just get on and find a seat.

If you travel to Bonn more often, there is a good alternative: You can take the super-fast ICE-train from Frankfurt-airport to SIEGBURG, which is close to Bonn and from there take the public transport “U-Bahn” (metro) line #66 to Bonn, which runs every 15 minutes. If you are lucky, the U-Bahn might even stop close to your hotel.

There is one slight snag with doing this... on a flexible ticket the fare is almost double that of using the other route.

this is unfortunately true...
It looks like, the fare is proportional to the speed of the train!

It does not only look like, this is the concept behind it.

But not when it is dark. I would take the ICE train to Siegburg/Bonn.
