I have to be in Boston tomorrow, and in Newport by Friday... can anyone suggest the cheapest (time is not really of the essence, just price) way to get from Beantown to Newport (or preferably Jamestown across the bridge, but whatever)...
Many thanks... ^^

Bonanza Bus (aka Peter Pan) from South Station is your best bet.
The only other choices are to bus or train to Providence and then another local bus.

Thank you mr. Plato, you are indeed wise and prescient. ;)

Indeed, Plato's second option (sounds like something
out of a philosophy text) is by far the cheapest.
The 14 or 60 bus from Kennedy Plaza costs I think $2
and takes an hour and change.

Peter Pan bus is like $27 one way, five departures a day, takes about an hour and half
The commuter train from Boston to Providence would be $7.75 or so and the bus from Providence to Newport would be like $2 if you wanted to make the connections and the times fit.

Or Amtrak which would be $14 to $37 depending on the train
